Le  Paris Major  And for Federico Chingotto, it's a story as consistent as it is cruel. Since the tournament's inception, the Argentinian has played  all the finals Five editions, five finals… and  five defeats .

Quite a crazy record for a player who has always managed to reach the final match on Philippe-Chatrier, but who has never managed to lift the trophy.

2022: First final with Juan Tello

In the first edition, Chingotto already reached the final with his former partner  Juan Tello .

But in their path stand  Juan Lebrón / Alejandro Galán , then the best pair in the world. Chingotto discovers the Parisian final, but leaves without the title.

This will only be the beginning of a long series.

2023: New partner, same result

The following year, Chingotto returned to the final, this time with  Paquito Navarro .

New project, new final… but a new defeat.

This time, it's  Agustín Tapia / Arturo Coello  which prevent him from winning his first Paris Major.

And from then on, the world number 1 players became a real bogey team for the Argentinian on Philippe-Chatrier.

Three finals with Galán, three defeats against Tapia/Coello

Since its association with  Ale Galán Chingotto continued to be incredibly consistent in Paris.

Three editions, three finals.

But each time, the same obstacle:  Tapia / Coello .

In their first final together in Paris, the number 1s had given them virtually no chance with a victory  6/2 6/0 in less than an hour .

In 2025, the scenario was still very complicated for Galán / Chingotto, who were defeated  6 / 1 6 / 4 .

This year, however, history finally seemed to be able to change.

This time, Chingotto came very close

The 2026 final was by far the most painful.

After losing the first set  6/3 Galán/Chingotto gradually gained the upper hand.

Chingotto began to play with tremendous intensity, defending everything and forcing Tapia/Coello to constantly play an extra ball. Alongside him, Galán grew stronger with his smashes and volleys.

Number 2 wins the second set  6/4 then continue  five consecutive games  between the end of the second set and the beginning of the third.

They take control of the match and eventually find themselves at  5/3, serve to follow for the title .

At that moment, Chingotto had never been closer to breaking his Parisian curse.

Tapia / Coello come back from nowhere again

But against Tapia / Coello, nothing is ever over.

Just when they are on the verge of defeat, the number 1s break back.

The momentum shifts immediately. Galán begins to show more frustration, while Tapia and especially Coello regain energy.

The final is finally heading towards a  decisive tie-break , the first to determine the winner of a Paris Major final.

And in this last game, there's really no suspense anymore.

Tapia and Coello cruise to victory.  7-1 , once again snatching the trophy from Galán / Chingotto.

A huge disappointment for the pair, who had the match in their grasp.

Five finals, five defeats

The situation is now dire for Federico Chingotto in Paris:

2022: final with Juan Tello, defeat against Lebrón / Galán
2023: final with Paquito Navarro, defeat against Tapia / Coello
2024: Final with Ale Galán, defeat against Tapia / Coello
2025: Final with Ale Galán, defeat against Tapia / Coello
2026: Final with Ale Galán, defeat against Tapia / Coello

Five finals have been played since the tournament's inception.  Five defeats.

And above all, four defeats against Tapia / Coello, including three consecutive ones with Galán.

Paris, the tournament that resists him

What makes this series even more frustrating is that Chingotto never misses out on the tournament.

On the contrary.

He's always there on the last day. Always in the final. Always one win away from the title.

But in Paris, he is still missing that last step.

This year seemed to be the one. Galán / Chingotto probably delivered their best final against Tapia / Coello on Philippe-Chatrier, served for the match and for a long time seemed superior in the game.

But once again, the trophy eludes them.

Federico Chingotto has reached every Paris Major final. He still hasn't won.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
