Claudia Fernández / Martina Calvo  are in the Paris Major final. And in style. The 4th seed dominated the world number 1s.  Gemma Triay / Delfi Brea  in two sets,  6 / 4 6 / 2 , after 1 hours and 49 minutes of play.

A victory that confirms a real trend: Fernández/Calvo have just beaten  Triay / Brea for the third consecutive time At this point, it's difficult to talk about chance. They have clearly become their nemesis.

A start to the match with a great deal of desire

From the very first exchanges, Fernández / Calvo showed their intentions.

A lot of intensity, patience in their build-up play, and above all, no fear related to the status of their opponents. They take to the court to impose their game.

After the match, Calvo perfectly summed up this state of mind:

"We went in with the desire right away. We're ready, whether it's pair 50 or pair 1."

And it showed.

Fernández impresses again with his diagonal pass against Brea

Claudia Fernández  delivered a tremendous performance.

In its diagonal facing  Delfi Brea She once again seemed to have the upper hand. We know that this type of confrontation suits her particularly well, and in Paris, this trend was confirmed.

Very clean, aggressive at the right time and capable of making a huge difference, Fernández constantly forced Brea to play under pressure.

There is also inevitably a mental dimension now. After several recent victories in this duel, Fernández enters the track with the conviction that she can dominate this diagonal.

And Brea, for her part, knows that she is facing a player who poses a lot of problems for her.

Calvo plays his role perfectly

To the side,  Martina Calvo  played it right.

Patient and very focused, she held her diagonal perfectly and did not try to force things when there was nothing to take.

But as soon as a shorter ball arrived, she didn't hesitate to accelerate.

A very mature match, with a lot of desire and very few lapses in concentration.

The figures also reflect this superiority:  56% of points won  for Fernández/Calvo, compared to 44% for Triay/Brea. They also convert  44% of their break points , compared to only 12% for the number 1s.

Outdoor conditions? No problem.

There may have been some questions before the tournament about their ability to reproduce this level in the  outdoor conditions .

A very clear answer at Roland-Garros: no problem.

Fernández / Calvo were able to perfectly adapt their game to the conditions, with real tactical mastery and an ability to accept longer exchanges before accelerating.

And above all, they showed that they could beat the best pair in the world in different contexts.

Three consecutive victories against Triay / Brea, that's starting to take its toll.

Calvo's first Major final

This victory is also historic for  Martina Calvo .

She will compete in her  first final at the Paris Major , but above all its  first Major final .

A new step in her progression, in a season where she continues to take up more and more space at the highest level.

For Fernández, this result also confirms the strength of a pair that is no longer simply there to hinder the best: it is now capable of beating them regularly.

A final against Sánchez / Ustero

In the final, Fernández / Calvo will face  Ari Sánchez / Andrea Ustero earlier, falling victim to  Marta Ortega / Sofia Araújo  in three sets.

A very interesting lineup between two young projects that are arriving with a lot of confidence.

Sánchez / Ustero have just overturned two consecutive matches in the quarters and then the semis, while Fernández / Calvo have simply knocked out the world's number 1s with authority.

After defeating Triay/Brea for the third time in a row,  Fernández/Calvo can now aim even higher: the title at the Paris Major .

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
