Dylan Guichard and Clément Geens  delivered a truly impressive performance for their entry into the competition  Paris Major On a packed and roaring Philippe Chatrier court, the Franco-Belgian pair thrashed  Santiago Pineda / Javi Ruiz  in two small sets:  6 / 0 6 / 2 .

Facing  44th in the world, Javi Ruiz  and  95th Santiago Pineda Guichard and Geens simply evolved on another planet.

20 minutes to inflict a 6-0 defeat

The first set was one-sided. From the very first exchanges, Guichard and Geens imposed a relentless pace and completely suffocated their opponents.

In defense, on the fly, in aerial play:  The Franco-Belgian pair dominates in all areas. Pineda and Ruiz find no solution and watch the games go by.

Result:  6/0 in just 20 minutes .

A first set close to perfection, with a  Clément Geens was particularly inspired in backhand and vibora shots. , while Guichard plays well on almost every ball.

Even changing sides doesn't change anything.

At the start of the second set, Pineda and Ruiz tried everything to...  changing sides  in order to disrupt the opposing team's momentum.

It works… for two games.

Guichard and Geens immediately launched another attack and found the break. Completely energized and buoyed by a supportive crowd, they didn't let up the pressure at all.

One break, then a second:  4/1 and the match already seems practically over.

Geens continues its festival, while  Guichard had a tremendous game in all areas of the game The Franco-Belgian pair left no room for a comeback and closed out the second set.  6/2 .

A landmark victory at Roland-Garros

It's hard to imagine a better start for Dylan Guichard.  At home in France, at Roland-Garros , the Frenchman signs with Geens a true benchmark victory.

Both players clearly realize  their best season together They had already shown some very beautiful things to  Malaga before taking a new step forward in  Madrid where they notably brought down Víctor Ruiz / Mario Ortega. In Paris, they have just sent another message.

But starting tomorrow, the level will rise several notches.

Lebrón / Augsburger in the crosshairs

In the second round, Guichard and Geens will meet again  seeded 3, Juan Lebrón / Leo Augsburger A completely different caliber and one of the biggest challenges possible on the circuit.

But after a performance like that, it's hard not to dream a little.

Guichard and Geens are confident, are playing their best padel and will be playing at home with the public behind them.  They will probably need to play the perfect match, but Roland-Garros has already shown that it can push the French to surpass themselves.

See you tomorrow, in the third rotation starting at 11am on court 7 , to attempt the enormous feat.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
