A new chapter will begin after the  Paris Major .  Pol Hernandez and Guillermo Collado  announced that they will end their partnership after Roland-Garros. A unique separation for two players who are friends off the court and who grew up together, gradually becoming established figures in the tennis scene. Premier Padel.

An end of an era after several difficult results

The decision comes after a more complicated period for the Spanish pair.

Chosen to represent Spain at the  Mediterranean Games of Taranto , where they formed the number 1 Spanish pair, Hernández and Collado had been eliminated as soon as they entered the competition.

A few days later, the same scenario played out at  Madrid P1 with another first-round elimination. Two disappointing results that finally pushed the players and their team to make a decision.

Collado himself admits that he cannot really explain this drop in performance, but assures that the two players continued to believe in the project until the very end.

An association that will have changed their dimension

This separation primarily marks the end of one of the longest-lasting partnerships on the current circuit. In professional padel, where partner changes have become commonplace,  Hernández / Collado have chosen stability for over a year .

A period during which the two young Spaniards progressed through several stages together and managed to regularly compete against the best pairs in the world.

For Hernández, this association represents even  the best sporting period of his career so far He particularly remembers his first quarter-final appearances on the circuit, achieved alongside his friend, but also their ability to maintain a high level for a good part of their shared journey.

«  Playing with one of your best friends and enjoying yourself together on the track is a privilege that few people get to experience.  "Hernández explained this when announcing their separation.

A separation without tension

This is not a case of a contentious breakup. On the contrary, the messages posted by the two players demonstrate the relationship that unites them.

«  It's going to suck not seeing you on the same side of the track anymore, but we know it's best for the future of our careers.  " explains Hernández, who also does not rule out reforming the pair one day.

Collado shares this sentiment, describing this period as  the best professional step of his career so far  and insists that the decision was made together, with their team, to allow everyone to continue to progress.

The two players also wanted to thank their coach.  Jorge de Benito , presented as one of the important elements of their progress and the longevity of their project.

One last tournament at Roland-Garros

Before separating, however, there remains  a final chapter to write .

And not just any tournament, since Hernández and Collado will play their final tournament together at the  Paris Major at Roland-Garros .

«  Paris will be our last tournament, so we're going to enjoy it and give it our all.  " Collado announces.

A final dance at one of the biggest events of the season before everyone embarks on a new project. Their separation should now cause  new pair movements in this area of the ranking , but before thinking about what comes next, Hernández and Collado will have one last opportunity to relive the sensations that marked their shared adventure.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
