A new pair sees the light of day at Dubai Premier Padel P1 with Sanyo Gutiérrez et Jose Antonio Diestro. Both players have changed partners a lot this season, in search of better ones. results. For Sanyo Gutiérrez, the season was marked by constant changes that did not bear fruit.
Sanyo Gutiérrez's journey this season
Sanyo started the year alongside Paquito Navarro, with whom he regularly reached the last square. However, Paquito's departure to join Juan Lebrón forced Sanyo to look for a new partner. It then teamed up with Maxi Sánchez, with whom he had reached the world number 1 rank in 2018. But this time, the results were not there, the two players had difficulty finding their understanding on the field, which led to a rapid separation.
Gutierrez then tried his luck with Álex Arroyo, betting on the youth. But again, the results were slow in coming, with both players often being eliminated in round of XNUMX. After these disappointments, the two players decided to separate. Today, he begins a new adventure by moving from left side of the track alongside José Antonio Diestro.
The journey of José Antonio Diestro
Diestro, for his part, has also made a series of changes of partners. He started the season with Javi leal, with whom the understanding was good, but the results did not follow, and they separated after several eliminations in round of XNUMX. He then teamed up with Pablo Lijó, but this association only lasted a few tournaments, the results being once again insufficient, and Pablo Lijó having other projects. Diestro then alternated between Guille Collado, Javi Ruiz et Andres Lancha before joining forces today with Sanyo Gutiérrez.
A new, unpublished pair
Sanyo and Diestro are currently registered only for the Dubai Premier Padel P1, which raises questions: is this a long term project or a temporary association? Sanyo seems close to the end of its career, and the question arises whether this duo is really made to last.
Playing with Right handed, Sanyo returns to the left side. We remember his brief passage to the left during the Final Master 2023 with mike yanguas, an experience which ended in elimination in quarter-finals. The question is therefore whether Sanyo will play the level of the best in this position, and if his physical will allow him to keep up the pace.
A good start in Dubai
In their first match together, Sanyo and Diestro started with a victory in the round of 16 face Solano / Ramirez, imposing 7 / 6 7 / 6. Argentina's recent victory in the Championnat du monde could well give a second wind to Sanyo Gutiérrez, who hopes to end the season on a positive note.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
