Should the P2000s always be organised by the FFT?

The P2000 tournaments are not the same as they were two years ago. At the time, the best French players, and even some foreigners, took part in these competitions which were often held in public places. Today, the FFT Padel Tour has evolved a lot, but is this evolution necessarily negative?

The recent P2000 from Casa Padel is a perfect example: a great success despite the absence of the ten best French players. This event allowed us to observe young talents measuring themselves against the best, such as Timeo Fonteny , recently selected to represent France at the World Championships in Qatar. This new face of the P2000 attracts players seeking recognition who aspire to establish themselves on the national, even international, scene.

The role of clubs in the organization of the P2000: an idea under debate

Eric Largeron , responsible for padel within the FFT, suggested a "big upheaval" : why not entrust the P2000s to the clubs themselves? With the emergence of clubs capable of managing large-scale events, such as the P1500 , this proposal makes perfect sense. The clubs have acquired solid experience in terms of organization and easily mobilize their local communities.

Many clubs successfully organize local and international competitions, and some even host P1000 et P1500 . They therefore have the infrastructure and expertise to manage events of the magnitude of a P2000.

The stability of FFT Padel Tour : a well-established structure

In parallel, the FFT Padel Tour has been able to adapt and maintain its popularity. The P2000s still meet with a strong enthusiasm and, judging by the success of the Casa tournament Padel, the circuit has found its audience. It constitutes an ideal platform for players in search of victory and experience, offering a stable and recognized framework.

The four annual P2000s , one per quarter, offer a great showcase for French padel and allow the FFT to maintain a strong link with the field. They also promote exchanges between the Federation and various padel players, strengthening its role at the heart of the development of the discipline.

A balance to be found

The current success of the P2000s demonstrates the relevance of the model implemented by the FFT. Completely rethinking this circuit, by entrusting its organization exclusively to the clubs, could jeopardize the balance found and the privileged link between the FFT and the practitioners.

So, should we entrust the management of the P2000s to the clubs? Or should we keep this formula which has already proven its effectiveness?
