Big surprise at Rotterdam P2 : Ale Galán / Fede Chingotto , seeded 2, were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Franco Stupaczuk / Jon Sanz , winners 6 / 4 6 / 4 .
A true benchmark victory for the Argentinian-Spanish pair, who had been searching for their rhythm since the beginning of their partnership.
Stupa/Sanz finally show up
Since their rapprochement, Stupaczuk / Sanz had shown some good things, but without really finding the expected consistency.
They had notably lost the 4th place in the ranking for the benefit of Paquito Navarro / Martin Di Nenno after the Paris Major, before reaching the final of the FIP Platinum Lyon .
In Rotterdam, they have clearly just reached a new milestone.
Facing one of the most consistent pairs on the circuit, Stupa and Sanz played well at the important moments and perfectly exploited the few lapses in concentration from their opponents.
A very solid first set
The start of the match is evenly matched.
The two pairs trade blows, but Stupaczuk / Sanz stay in touch and wait for their moment.
He arrives at the end of the set.
A break allows them to take the lead and win the first set 6/4 .
Galán / Chingotto, despite being used to imposing their rhythm in this type of match, are unable to really take control of the exchanges.
The same scenario played out in the second round.
In the second set, Stupa / Sanz started again with the same intensity.
They once again take the advantage over the opponent's serve.
Galán / Chingotto manage to break back and perhaps think they have revived the match, but Stupa and Sanz immediately go back on the attack.
Another break followed, then the match was closed on a second 6/4 .
A clear victory, without losing a set, against the number 2 players in the draw.
Galán / Chingotto out of semi-finals
This is a real rarity this season.
Galán / Chingotto had made a habit of being present in the final four almost every week.
In Rotterdam, their journey ended in the quarter-finals.
Gallant never really seemed to be in its best rhythm, while Chingotto failed to sufficiently reverse the dynamic.
On the other side, Stupa and Sanz were much more solid in the key moments.
A victory that could change everything
This success can clearly serve as a starting point for their partnership.
Beat Galán/Chingotto in two sets, in a quarter-final Premier Padel, is exactly the kind of result capable of unlocking a pair.
Stupaczuk regained a high level of intensity and Jon Sanz perfectly supported his partner, with a lot of energy and solidity.
They finally have their victory reference .
Yanguas vs. Nieto in the semi-finals
And what follows promises to be another big fight.
In the semi-finals, Stupaczuk / Sanz will find Mike Yanguas / Coki Nieto they too pulled off a major coup by eliminating Juan Lebrón / Leo Augsburger .
We will therefore have an unexpected semi-final between two pairs who have just knocked out some favorites.
In Rotterdam, the cards have clearly been reshuffled.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
