The  world number 1  had a very close call. Facing the surprising pair  Edu Alonso / Aimar Goñi  in the quarter-finals of  Premier Padel Malaga P1 ,  Arturo Coello  et  Agustín Tapia  had to draw on their resources to prevail  6/7 6/1 6/4  en  1:38 .

Despite being pushed around for a set by a Spanish pair in top form, the world ranking leaders once again demonstrated why they dominate the circuit: when their backs are against the wall, they almost always find the solution.

 Alonso and Goñi play without any inhibitions 

The first set was of a very high level. Neither team managed to break serve, the four players traded blows, and the set was logically decided by a tie-break.

In this decisive game,  Aimar Goñi  is simply enormous. Extremely inspired offensively, he racks up winning shots and regularly takes the lead in attacking phases. Alongside him,  Eduardo Alonso  holds its diagonal perfectly in the face of  Arturo Coello allowing outsiders to stay in touch before making the difference.

Rewarded for their excellent level of play, Alonso and Goñi won the tie-break and took control of the match. The upset was beginning to take shape.

 The reaction from the number 1s was immediate. 

But faced with  Tapia and Coello Having a spare set guarantees nothing.

As is often the case when they are behind, the two men immediately change their approach. More aggressive, more intense, they significantly raise their level of play.  Agustín Tapia  regains its full power and causes a lot of damage, while the Spanish team slows down slightly.

The second set quickly turned into a rout. The world number ones completely overwhelmed their opponents and leveled the score thanks to a net  6/1 .

 A break that makes all the difference 

The third round was more contested. Alonso and Goñi regained their stability, but Coello and Tapia struck at the best moment.

Once again, they have demonstrated their incredible mental strength. Even when challenged by a confident pair, they know how to tighten their game when the pressure mounts.

Despite the elimination,  Eduardo Alonso  et  Aimar Goñi  leave Málaga with honors.

Already defeated the 5th seed  Coki Nieto  et  Jon sanz  In the round of 16, the two Spaniards gave the world's best players a run for their money for more than a set. Their tournament performance confirms that they are among the most promising pairs at the moment.
