The fourth day of the Premier Padel Cupra Costa Daurada P1 in Tarragona was marked by Marta Marrero's farewell, new performances from outsiders Goñi/Ortega, and the strength displayed by the favorites. Between emotion and surprises, the tournament is rising in intensity on the eve of the quarter-finals.

 Marta Marrero bows out 

The former world number 1 played the final match of her professional career this Thursday in Tarragona. Alongside Lucia Martinez, the Spanish player lost in two sets to Claudia Jensen and Alejandra Alonso (6/3 7/5), in an emotional atmosphere. Hugging her opponents at the end of the match, Marrero also shared a powerful moment with her family, who were present in the stands. While the outcome wasn't as hoped, this symbolic exit will remain etched as the final chapter of an exceptional career, also marked by a quarter-final at Roland Garros in tennis in 2000.

 Guinart and Iglesias continue their exploits.  Moments later on the same track, Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias scored another spectacular victory. After their surprise semi-final at the Rome Major, the Spaniards defeated Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda in three sets (7/5 4/6 6/1), securing their place in the quarterfinals where they will face Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero, seeded number 4.

In the other women's matches, the top 4 pairs all held their own in two sets, like Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo who beat Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo (6/2 6/2), confirming their excellent form.

 In the men's race, Goñi and Ortega continue their waking dream 

The men's table has known  two huge surprises  this Thursday, with the qualification of two unseeded duos for the quarter-finals.

David Gala and Lucas Campagnolo snatched a hard-fought victory over Chozas and Tolito Aguirre (6/4 3/6 7/6), while the thunderbolt of the day came from the duo  Aimar Goñi and Mario Ortega . Having already beaten Bergamini and Paquito Navarro in the previous round, the two Spaniards who came through the qualifiers did it again by beating Agustin Torre and Enzo Jensen, Claudia's brother. A major performance that propels them into the quarter-finals... where they will meet no less than  Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto , solid winners of Diestro / Esbri (6/3 6/4).

 Tapia and Coello, for their part, are unrolling.  Facing Mario Huete and Maxi Arce, the world number ones didn't flinch: a clear 1/6 2/6 victory. They will face Martin Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger on Friday, for an explosive clash at the top.

The rest of the match will begin this Friday at 10 a.m.
