The French men's team came 7th in the 2024 World Padel Championships in Qatar. Thomas Leygue gives us an overview of these world championships.

On a good note against Chile

Thomas Leygue : We are a little disappointed with the results, for sure. We had higher goals, with the hope of reaching a semi-final and maybe a third place like in Dubai two years ago, but this time, Italy was stronger than us. Then, we played a classification match against Brazil, who were able to line up their teams better than us. So, inevitably, there is a little disappointment, but we end on a good note with the victory against Chile.

We need some time

Thomas Leygue : I think the team is still young, it is gradually being built. We need a little time and probably a better organization to arrive in better physical condition. But it really comes down to details. We saw it against Italy: we could have gone to a decisive match in the quarter-finals, but that's how it is. Italy remains a solid team, with two Argentinians in its ranks. Today, we may not yet have the level, but I am convinced that in one or two years, we will be able to compete with them.
