Thomas Leygue continues to climb the ranks. The former French number 1 is making his return among the  four best French players in the world rankings , by overtaking Yoan Boronad, nicknamed the "French Dog", now 177th in the world.

The Aix-en-Provence player is also closing in on his former teammate Julien Seurin, currently ranked 168th in the world. Ahead of them, Timéo Fonteny (143rd) and especially Dylan Guichard (88th) still maintain a comfortable lead in the rankings.

A gradual recovery after a serious injury

This return to the French top 4 is far from insignificant. It comes after many months of work, following the serious Achilles tendon injury that abruptly ended Thomas Leygue's season last year.

As with any athlete returning from such an injury, the challenge isn't just about regaining physical fitness. It's also about overcoming apprehension, rebuilding confidence in movement, and rediscovering the automatic reflexes that made him so strong on the track.

Encouraging signs

Although Thomas Leygue acknowledges that he has not yet fully recovered his level of play, the indicators are increasingly positive.

His body is responding well and his sensations are gradually returning. The Frenchman demonstrated this particularly during the  Bordeaux P2 where he recorded several high-level sequences alongside Chilean Javier Valdés, hinting at the return of the player who had dominated French padel.

Returning to the forefront is the goal.

This climb in the rankings confirms that Thomas Leygue is on the right track. Even though there's still a long way to go before he regains his best form, the former leader of French padel is patiently taking it one step at a time.

His goal now is to continue this momentum, regain his confidence on the field and return permanently to the ranks of the best French players… before, why not, thinking about the world's top 100 again…
