Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger  continue their journey to  P1 of Valence  after their victory against  Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal  in the quarter-finals,  6 / 4 6 / 4 But the match was also marked by a moment of tension involving the Andalusian player, before a gesture of fair play from their opponents calmed the proceedings.

After returning to winning ways in recent days, Guerrero and Leal approached this quarter-final with a great deal of freedom in their play. However, Lebrón and Augsburger quickly imposed their rhythm, taking the first set 6-4.

An arbitration decision that increases the pressure

The scenario seemed ideal for the pair coached by  Juan Martín Silingo who had taken the lead in the second set and was serving to close out the match.

It was then that a contentious rally interrupted the end of the match. At 40-all in the tiebreak, Lebrón attempted a shot close to the net. Javi Leal called it out, a decision confirmed by the umpire. This situation immediately provoked the anger of the Spanish player.

Visibly annoyed by the intervention of the video referee, Lebrón then uttered a phrase that did not go unnoticed:

"If the referee judges it a foul, I'm leaving, I really am."

Finally, the referee decides to replay the point after announcing a let.

 The gesture that changes everything

Although nothing compelled them to do so,  Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal  choose to give the point back to their opponents. On the next serve, Fran deliberately sends the ball into the net to give the point to Lebrón and Augsburger.

A sporting gesture applauded by the public and their opponents, which allows them to emerge with their heads held high from a tense situation.

With this match point in hand, Lebrón and Augsburger didn't falter and closed out the match.  6 / 4, 6 / 4 , thus securing their place in the semi-finals of the Valencian tournament.
