Romeo Beckham, son of football legend David Beckham, shines on the courts… of padel! The young Briton won with his partner Nikhil Mohindra a tournament LTA Grade 4 à London. In England, padel tournaments are classified by levels under the aegis of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). They go from Grade 7 (leisure level) at Grade 1 (national elite). The Grade 4 tournaments, are intermediate competitions, it is the equivalent of a P250 in France.
The pair won the Padel-London SILVER, delivering a beautiful final. After a complicated start with a first set lost 1-4, they were able to turn the situation around by winning the second set 4-3 before concluding the meeting on a tie-break (10-8).
It remains to be seen whether Romeo will continue his rise on the English circuit… or further afield! Who knows, maybe he will have as great a career in padel as his father did on the football pitch.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
