The scene is astonishing and provokes many reactions: Measured Basque , an Instagram blogger from tennis and passionate about padel, achieved a spectacular and unusual shot by making a by 3… on a serve .
In this now viral sequence, Vasco serves by lifting the ball strongly and hitting it with a lot of power. As a result, the ball hits the back window, bounces with considerable spin and rises to the point where it goes out of the court over the side railing, thus making a By 3 from the service!
A real little feat, achieved from the baseline, solely thanks to the exceptional work of the wrist to lift the ball below the waist (the navel), as required by the padel service rule. No need for a smash: the only effect given here is enough to cause the ball to go out.
Is this a move allowed by the rules?
Regulatoryly , nothing prohibits this type of action. What is not explicitly prohibited is therefore authorized The serve should be performed with the ball hit below the waist, which is indeed the case in Vasco's video.
However, pulling off such a coup remains extremely difficult . Several conditions must be met:
- Great technical mastery to generate a powerful and precise lift.
- An opponent who does not block or counter the ball.
- The specific playing conditions : significant heat, very “grippy” windows to amplify the effect given to the ball.
Suffice to say that this kind of blow will remain very rare in an official tournament (impossible?). But it allowed Vasco Mensurado to once again demonstrate his creativity and enliven the padel community with an action as original as it was impressive.
