2nd day of internship padel with Oui Sport Spirit in Barcelona with your adventurer and columnist Mario Cordero. This Monday, we got to the heart of the matter.

After a first night restorative in the family of Irene and Ramon, here I am on the way to the club on Monday morning. I'm lucky, the house is located at 5 minutes to feet and I find other trainees around a coffee on the sunny terrace.

It's 9 a.m. and the club is already full of life. The gym is already taken by storm, the tennis courts are occupied by the young players of the academy and the courts of padel are just waiting for us! The theme for the day will be defense, which for a right-wing player like me is essential.

  • Physical trainer

Andres and Isabelle welcome us to the field for a one-hour physical preparation session adapted to the padel. First the upper body warm-up then the mobilization of the pelvis, before ending with small steps on a ladder on the ground. Even if the temperature is still cool, the atmosphere warms up gently with chair exercises that make you regret the potato omelet the day before (or at least the last two portions that Irene had to finish. ).

Most exercises are done with the racket which makes the session very playful.

  • The video part

After this start-up, we cool off to discuss several technical-tactical aspects of the defense with a one-hour video presentation. This is Oriol Moyes, the technical director of the school of padel and the club, which manages the session with translations and clarifications from Isabelle. Among other things, he presents us with points played on the World Padel Tour and the tactical choices of high level players are commented on. Very interesting for most of us who have never done a deep tactical analysis like this.

  • Back on the courts for 2 practice hours

Now it's time to go all out on the tracks. The troop is divided into three to make level groups. Nil, Cristian and Pol will be our coaches of the day under the watchful eye of Oriol who supervises the groups.

I find myself with Richard and Virgile in the group of Pol, 24ème Catalan player. The exercises are linked together, we work on the double windows, the returns of glass and the lobs. The cardio is put to the test, especially as the sun begins to hit hard enough.

13:2 p.m. and it's the end of a busy morning, the bodies need fuel and that's good because the club restaurant is right there, a few meters which seem much longer than XNUMX hours earlier!

The club restaurant is really top notch, I let myself be tempted by typical “huevos fritos con patatas fritas” and chicken kebabs (I apologize in advance for those who will see these photos at 11am with an empty stomach in the morning. job !).

  • Commented matches with Pol

To finish the first day full in beauty, a party was planned with Pol. We will all play 30 with him in turn. A real treat to listen to his advice and share the track with him. He puts the spotlight on the tactical points of the defense and gratifies us with several shots coming out of nowhere. Special mention for its support on the glass to go smasher higher back glass.

End of the day at 16 p.m., it is now time to have a drink by the pool while watching the training sessions of the club's players. The tracks are quickly full of children from the school of padel, it's impressive to see the level of these young players who already have several years of practice behind them.

Finally, I promised myself not to tell you about the drink of friendship we had on the beach located 10 minutes walk from the club, and I tell you tomorrow for a day that will be full of padel and in outdoor activities!
