Only at  20 years ,  Aimar Goñi  has become in just a few months one of the fastest-rising names on the professional circuit. A revelation at the start of this season, a semi-finalist in the  Premier Padel Asunción P2  with  Eduardo Alonso The young player from Pamplona is now attracting all the attention.

In an interview with  BRAND The Spanish player reflected on his meteoric rise, his mental progress, his relationship with Edu Alonso, but also on the rumors that already send him to the Spanish national team for the next World Cup.

 “Everything that happens to me is a reward.” 

After a tremendous start to the season, Aimar Goñi is enjoying his career progression while keeping a cool head.

“I hear a bit more about myself these days, but I see it mainly as a reward for daily work.”

The young Spaniard points out that he is still far from achieving his goals, but feels that he is moving in the right direction.

 A beginning among friends before the explosion 

Before revealing himself on Premier PadelGoñi had started to make a name for himself on the circuit  A1 Padel , especially with his friend  Alvaro Alone .

The two youngsters from Pamplona had caused an upset by beating several big pairs on the circuit.

“We were just two kids from Pamplona who dreamed of making a living from padel.”

Memories that remain very important in his journey.

 The decisive step with Tito Allemandi 

One of the turning points in his career then came with the call from  Tito Allemandi .

An association that left a huge mark on the young Spaniard.

“Since I played with Tito, I’ve become a different player.”

Goñi explains that the Argentinian brought him a great deal in terms of emotional management, competitive intensity and the demands of the highest level.

“He taught me to always give 100%, to fight for every point.”

 An already feared attacking profile 

Today associated with  Eduardo Alonso Goñi is particularly impressive for his offensive explosiveness.

During the Asunción tournament, he had notably surpassed  80 winners in three games , proof of its enormous ability to make a difference.

The Spanish player fully embraces this very aggressive style of play:

“I’m the one who takes risks, who tries for winners… but also the one who can make more mistakes.”

It is precisely this complement with Edu Alonso that seems to work perfectly.

 “With Edu Alonso, we are really building something.” 

After several changes of partners at the start of the season, Aimar Goñi seems to have found real stability with  Eduardo Alonso .

The two Spaniards train together daily and know each other perfectly off the field.

“When I step onto the track, I have 100% confidence in him.”

Their complementarity is immediately apparent:

  • Goñi brings power and aggression,
  • while Edu Alonso greatly secures exchanges thanks to his defense and consistency.

The young Spaniard now hopes to build a long-term project:

“Our goal is to build a sustainable team and reach the highest level possible together.”

 A pre-selection with Spain? 

But the big news surrounding Aimar Goñi mainly concerns the Spanish national team.

According to MARCA, the player is among the names being considered to represent Spain at the next World Cup.

A possibility also recently mentioned by  Sanyo Gutiérrez .

Goñi readily acknowledges that this situation affects him:

“It’s a dream to hear about the selection.”

But he prefers to remain cautious:

“I just need to keep progressing and working.”

 His role model? Arturo Coello 

When asked about the players who inspire him, Goñi surprised everyone by mainly citing…  Arturo Coello .

Although he plays on the right, he explains that he observes the world number 1 a lot despite his left-handed profile.

“Arturo represents exactly what I would like to do on a track.”

The young Spaniard particularly admires:

  • its net cover,
  • his handling of lobs,
  • its quality as a block,
  • and his ability to turn difficult situations into favorable ones.

 One of the future stars of the circuit? 

Already considered as:

  • a revelation
  • a candidate for rookie of the year,
  • and one of the biggest Spanish talents,

Aimar Goñi seems to impress most with his maturity.

Despite the growing media exposure, the player maintains a very simple message:

“My goal is to be able to go to bed at the end of the year knowing that I gave it my all.”

A mentality that confirms why many already see him as one of the future big names in world padel.
