Dance Padel Talk, Teo Vieau returns to a burning question: Does Alejandro Galán still have what it takes to return to the top of world padel?

Galán, the former king in search of reconquest

Alejandro Galán has long reigned over world padel. Pure talent, explosive, dominating... he has been world number 1 for several years in a row. But for some time now, the situation has changed. In 2024, he decided to partner with Federico Chingotto, the Argentinian maestro on the right, renowned for his consistency and inexhaustible defense.

On paper, the duo Chingotto/Galan nicknamed Chingalan, had everything to compete with the best. And in fact, they proved that they could beat anyone… except the Coello/Tapia pair, current world No. 1.

A worrying record compared to the leaders

Since their formation, the two teams have faced each other 17 times. Result: only 5 wins for Chingalán. And this figure becomes even more telling when you look closely: the duo's last victory against Coello/Tapia dates back to July 7, 2024. For almost 9 months, they have not found the solution.

Why ? Because padel is evolving, and power and speed now dominate. Coello and Tapia embody this new era: a padel ultra offensive, based on explosive strikes, maximum risk-taking... and formidable efficiency.

What if the solution was called… Pablo Cardona?

To become number 1 again, Galán might need a new profile at his side. Not a defender, but a left-handed attacker, capable of dynamiting established patterns. And one name stands out: paul cardona.

Only at 20 years, Cardona is already 16th in the worldA powerful, spectacular left-hander whose style seriously disturbs the Coello/Tapia pair. This season, Cardona and his partner Leo Augsburg have faced the No. 1s three times. Result: a match won, two lost… but always with enormous intensity. Even Arturo Coello admitted in an interview that he feared this team.

A future dream team?

Imagine: Galán the Experienced, strategist, tough, associated with Cardona the Will-o'-the-Wisp, unpredictable, explosive… It would be a explosive cocktail. Galán's experience and physique combined with the young Spaniard's fire and striking force. Enough to worry the current kings and relaunch Galán in the race for the throne.

And you, what do you think?

Galán/Cardona, does that seem credible to you?
Which player do you think would be the ideal partner for Galán in his quest for world number 1?
