Approaching the End of year master's degree, which will bring together the eight best pairs in the world, Ale Galán gave an interview to the Spanish media Diario AS and the help of Carlota Palma. In this exchange, he looks back on his season, his partnership with Federico Chingotto, and its outlook for 2024.
A year of contrasts for Galán and Chingotto
Ale Galán acknowledges that this season has been marked by challenges, especially due to the lack of preparation at the beginning of the year:
"It must be acknowledged that Tapia and Coello are at an incredible level. They have changed aspects of their game this summer, while Fede and I have lacked time to work together. The lack of a common pre-season has taken away a certain versatility from us," He says.
Despite these difficulties, the Spanish player remains optimistic and ambitious to compete with Tapia and Coello in 2025.
Tapia and Coello: excellent, but not invincible
For Ale Galán, although Tapia and Coello have dominated the circuit this season, they are not unattainable:
"Tapia and Coello are very strong, but not invincible, even if it may seem that way at the moment. In less than two years, I have beaten them with three different partners (Juan Lebrón, Jon Sanz and Federico Chingotto). Let's see what we are capable of next season. That is our challenge."
Individual progress, but a need for adjustments
Galán remains lucid about his assessment of the year and insists on the need to improve complementarity with his current partner, Federico Chingotto :
"I feel like I had my best year, both on the court and in training. But it wasn't enough. Chingotto and I will work on how to help each other on the court and complement our games."
Towards a strengthened dynamic in 2024
With enhanced preparation and an optimized strategy, the pair Galan/Chingotto could well surprise in 2025… even if there is first a final deadline: the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona.
Le End of year master's degree will perhaps offer a first glimpse of the adjustments made by the duo against the world's best pair... or not.
