Guest on the YouTube channel microphone The House of Padel on the occasion of the pre-season tournament of the Hexagon Cup , Alex Chozas , recently ranked 27th in the FIP rankings, tells us about the end of his collaboration with his Argentine compatriot Leo Augsburg , the pride of wearing the Argentinian jersey, but also his main objective this season.
A return with Leo Augsburg ?
Alex Chozas teamed up with his fellow Argentinian Leo Augsburg for the second part of last season. Teamed together in August 2024, the Argentine pair reached the final at FIP Gold Lyon and a semi-final at P1 Rotterdam , notably eliminating the pair Di Nenno/Lebron . Unfortunately, the results did not follow thereafter.
“We found ourselves at a time when we weren’t quite ready yet. We are both young, with little experience, and we sometimes had trouble getting along. Our first tournaments were good, but the end of the season wasn’t what I wanted, and I think he didn’t either. But we finished in a very good position in the rankings.”
Indeed, both players have experienced impressive progress in the rankings, with 85 places won for Leo Augsburg , which has integrated the top 30 at the end of the 2024 season, and 80 seats for Alex Chozas , who became 28th in the world . But the native of Hurlingham does not rule out the idea of the pair returning in the future.
“I think we will play together again in the future, once we have gained more maturity and experience.”
Wearing the Argentine jersey
Winner of the World Cup with the Argentine selection, after a final won 2-1 against the Spanish rival, Alex Chozas proudly recalls this important moment.
“I had to sit on the bench for the final, but I gave it my all, cheering on the team! I ended up speechless and with a fever for a week or ten days, if I'm not mistaken. It was a unique experience.”
A suspenseful final that will remain engraved in the history of padel. The last point was won by Argentina thanks to Leo Augsburg et Libaak .

“The team was very united, the guys gave everything for the jersey. We knew that Spain and Argentina were going to meet in the final, as always. At the beginning, we thought it was going to be very complicated, especially after Arthur won the first point. The second match was between the best Spanish pair and the best Argentinian pair, and it was a real lottery. But it went our way, and our teammates finished the job. What an incredible team!”
The association with Alex Ruiz
This collaboration came about late last year, after the pair split up. Chozas/Augsburger . The Argentinian decided to share the track with Alex Ruiz nicknamed "Captain America" , experienced Spanish player, ranked 17th in the world .
“At the end of last year, things were not going very well with Leo , so I wanted a change. Then, in December, Alex called me and I was immediately excited to play with him.”
Alex Chozas is a player capable of playing on both sides of the field, but he goes back from reverse side (left) by associating with Alex Ruiz , while he had played his last match on the drive side (right) with Leo Augsburg to close the 2024 season.
“Right now, I feel more comfortable on the backhand because I have been training there for a longer time. But if I train on the drive for ten days or two weeks, I could get back to my level in this position too. Today, I prefer to play on the backhand, but the important thing is to make the most of this opportunity with Alex and learn from him.”

The pair together form the pair 10 , for whom the round of 16 stage is crucial in every tournament.
" Alex is used to playing in the quarter-finals in almost every tournament. I, on the contrary, am reaching that level, so I feel a little more pressure. But I think we can get there with training.”
They notably passed their first test of the season by winning their round of 16 match at P1 Riyadh facing the pair Alex Arroyo / Edu Alonso , seeded n ° 8 .
The goal Final Master
The objective is announced: to access the Final Master Premier Padel of Barcelona in December and be part of the 8 best pairs of the season .
“The goal is to enter the Master Degrees . For that, we have to at least reach the quarter-finals regularly. It won't be easy, but we are a very good team."
A big sports enthusiast and former tennis player, I discovered padel a few years ago without really focusing on it. Then I became addicted to this sport by practicing it and watching the premier padel matches. Looking forward to sharing the 2025 news with you!
