Alexis Salles, the coach of the French men's team returned to all topics who accompanied his list for the world championship in Qatar next November.

He also returns to the competition that there is among the men and explains some strong choices he has made.

2 pairs that dominate the debates

“My feeling is that we have a very competitive team with a lot more certainty than during our last European Championship in Marbella.

We have much healthier players at the end of the year and 2 pairs who dominated the debates these last months.

Benjamin Tison, at the gates of the world top 70, is having an incredible season and has accumulated maximum confidence. Johan Bergeron has been playing very well on the left since the start of the year and has shown a lot of mastery in his game. They both won the French championships and the last P2000 in Toulouse Padel Club.

Bastien Blanqué makes a very good 2rd part of the season, he is very fit physically and his association with Thomas Leygue is in full progress with excellent results in recent months as demonstrated by their victory in the P2000 des Pyramides and their place as finalists in the French championships and in the P2000 in Toulouse. ”

Thomas Leygue: we hope to have it 100%

“Thomas Leygue has completely freed himself from Marbella and he has recently shown an incredible level of play and attitude, I am very happy for him.

The only downside for Thomas comes from his recurring abdominal pain. Thomas is currently doing intensive care with his medical staff in Madrid to be ready for Doha. We are in contact every day, the objective being that it can be 100% during the world championships.

Then we have 4 players who play very well and who can bring a lot of strength and complementarity to the team. ”

Scatena, Inzérillo, Moreau, Authier bring a lot

"Jérémy Scatena is back in shape after a difficult start to the season and he has experience of this type of competition. He loves the France team, he can bring a lot to the team, on and off the pitch, we will need his energy!

Jerome Inzérillo continues to grow and will capitalize on his experience in Marbella. He is a competitor and he brings professionalism to the team.

Maxime Moreau who finds the France team will bring its freshness and physical intensity. During our team meeting last week in Toulouse, he clearly expressed his desire to improve the group and give the best of himself during these championships, it was very stimulating!

François Authier, a versatile and very combative player, will make his debut for the French team and he is obviously extremely motivated by this prospect. François makes a lot of efforts to be at the top in Doha, especially physically and we can count on him to honor his 1st selection for the French team

All players feel 100% concerned and have the will to shine at these world championships in Doha.

My role will be to compose the best possible teams to achieve our goal, my point of vigilance will therefore be to keep the 8 players concerned throughout the competition. For that, we must communicate well and privilege the transparency between us. The guys know each other and we have already worked a lot on this aspect, we have all the assets in hand to have fun and have a great competition! ”

Max Moreau for a team balance

“I made the choice not to select Max in Marbella for a team balance. Last May, I had a long discussion with Max and I assured him that the door in the France team was not closed. Max did the necessary efforts, his results and his level of play fully legitimize his return to the Team. I am very happy for him and I know he will be a real asset for us ! "

Playing for the team can transcend François Authier

“Currently, the level is rising considerably and there are many players who give themselves the means to progress and who can claim to play for the France team, which remains a dream for every player. Unfortunately there are only 8 players who will leave for Qatar.

I decided to give François a chance because he is a competitor and playing for the France team can transcend him. He is very regular for 4 years and apart from the EDF meeting in May 2021 where he was not ready, he has always had very good results with Justin by hanging and sometimes beating the best French teams. And he has the advantage of being able to play on both sides as demonstrated by his victory in P2 with Scatena last August. ”

Adrien Maigret's attitude has often been negative

bite your tongue on padel adrien maigret

“The big absentee from this list is of course Adrien Maigret who has been part of the France team since 2018 and who has always performed with the latter. Adrien still has the level to be part of this team but his attitude in recent months has often been negative and I made the choice not to retain him to go to Qatar.

We discussed it with Adrien and even if we do not necessarily agree on the premise (to use your words) I hope he understood my position and especially that he will be able to take it into account to come back even stronger and reintegrate this French team during future championships. ”

Objective: keep our 4th place

“Our common goal is to keep our 4rd dearly acquired place in Paraguay!

Currently, Spain, Argentina and Brazil are clearly above other nations.

The international level is progressing enormously and there are no longer any weak nations. We must beware of Latin teams. Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile and Mexico have great players and are incredible competitors.

Italy also has a very strong team which remains on excellent results at the European level.

Without forgetting our Belgian friends who continue to progress and who jostled us during our last confrontation in Marbella.

Today there is no longer a weak nation and we will have to approach each meeting very seriously.

Participating in world championships and wearing the jersey of the France team remains an incredible opportunity and a real honor, you can count on us to give the best of ourselves to reach the magic square!

Go France !"
