The French Alix Collombon looks back on the very big match she played yesterday with her partner Jessica Castello against Las Heras / Virseda, and which saw the qualification of the latter in the semi-finals of the WPT Reus Open.

It was a very special match that took place yesterday in Reus. Indeed, an unusual fact, four players had the opportunity to qualify for their first-ever semi-final on an Open or Master of World Padel Tour. At the end of the suspense, it was Veronica Virseda and Barbara Las Heras who won against Jessica Castello and Alix Collombon (3/6 6/3 6/4). The French champion gives us her feelings after the match.

“We are obviously very disappointed to come so close to this semi-final. A hotly contested, hot match. We did a big first set, in the second we went down a bit, they on the contrary increased their level of play, so the trend was reversed quite quickly.

The third was very hooked, they take our service quite quickly but we tear ourselves away, and we come back to 4/4. And then we lose the last two games of the match at the “punto de oro”, including the last where we were leading 0/40…

It comes down to details, there were a lot of very long, very tight points. I think we didn't miss much, we'll go back to training to make sure that next time it falls on our side!”

Despite the disappointment of coming so close to their very first semi-final at a WPT Open, Alix Collombon and Jessica Castello have made an excellent start to the season, with two quarter-finals in as many tournaments. We can't wait to see them at work in Vigo, in about ten days!
