Alix Collombon gave us an exclusive interview to explain her sudden separation from Nicole Traviesa, with whom she had been competing in the WPT for 2 years.

Padel Magazine : A separation at two tournaments at the end of the season after two years together, what happened?

Alix Collombon: “I told Nicole last Wednesday that I didn't want to continue with her in 2021. The discussion went very well. I wanted to be transparent with her and tell her my choice not to continue next year so that she has time to turn around. We told ourselves that we would end the year well together, that we would do everything to end on a good note because we deserved it, especially given our last result on the World Padel Tour.

In the end, and it's a shame, we will not end the year 2020 together. I will play the next tournament with Sara Ruiz, player on the right, and he is very likely that I pass on the left!"

Padel Magazine : How long have you been thinking about leaving Nicole?

Alix Collombon: “With Niki, we had some great moments together. But maybe for her and for me, it was time to find new projects. We saw together that there may be a barrier to getting closer to the best global pairs. We are both competitors, and sometimes the life of the padel, so that we have to separate to try to find other associations to go further.

Sometimes changes are necessary to move forward, whether for one or the other.

I had need a new project, new ambitions and a player with a different kind of game next to me to try to get past this complicated course.

What is valid for me is valid for her. We spent 2 beautiful years together. I say thank you for our adventure. I am sure that she will also pass this milestone with her new partner because she has the game to do beautiful things. ”

Padel Magazine : Any info on your partner for 2021?

Alix Collombon: ”“ A player I really like contacted me to find out if I was interested in a project with her. I thought it would be a good project. JI am therefore very happy ! I felt the need to have a new project and new ambitions. With my new partner, I think we can take important steps and hopefully compete with the best pairs in the world. ”

Padel Magazine : What objectives for 2021? Top 20 World Padel Tour ?

Alix Collombon:“The goal is clearly the Top 20. It's been two years now that I am Top 30 with Nicole. And I think in order to go further, we both had to try to find new momentum. This is the reason why we have chosen different paths. I hope that with my new partner we will do great things, aim for a few quarters and get closer to the Top 20. I have a lot of hope for this new adventure!

To conclude, we must not forget that if we Nicole and I worked so well together, it's because we worked. I hope we can meet again on the main tables but as far as possible. (to laugh) "
