Happy to join the Cupra Tribe

Alix Collombon:“I am delighted to join the“ Cupra Tribe ”. I've wanted to join their team for a long time, I really like their cars. I have been looking for a car partner for a long time.

Padel Magazine : We are going to talk about you Alix, and your beginnings in the padel. How did you get into it?

Alix Collombon:"I played tennis. I climbed 420 (WTA) to my best ranking. I quit for several reasons in 2014, and discovered the padel the next year. It was love at first sight. I wanted to play again very quickly. Little by little, the competitive spirit took over and I found myself living in Barcelona at the end of 2017. I made the choice to try the adventure on the World Padel Tour. I am very happy with this choice. ”

A choice between football and tennis

Padel Magazine : Your development has been very rapid in this sport. In a few years you reach the Top 30. How did you do it?

Alix Collombon:“I have been immersed in sport since I was very young. My mother was a sports teacher, my father played hand at a very high level. We have a sport culture at home. We watch everything we can watch on TV. I started playing tennis very early on, and my goal was to be a professional player. I had the opportunity to play Roland-Garros in doubles in 2013. ”

Padel Magazine : We know that you played well in tennis, but also in football! Could you have become a soccer player?

Alix Collombon:“We'll never know, but it's true that at 12 I had to make a choice between tennis and football! I could have gone to women's OL when I was young. I went to tennis, and it's my story, my destiny. When I quit tennis, I went to a club near my house, and it's true that I got on pretty quickly. I started in team 3 and very quickly I moved up to team 1 and we played in division 3. ”

“If I had chosen football at 12, I think I had the qualities to become a pro player. After saying that I could have played for OL, which is the best team in the world, no I don't have that claim. When I took over in 2016, it was really for fun. But when I left for Barcelona, my coach told me that OL's CFA coach had told him about me! But I had already made my choice. ”

“Girls if you get started, you'll be a hit”

Padel Magazine : The first time we saw you in the padel it was in Lille at the French championships. You were already with Jessica Ginier. At that time no one saw you go that far. Is that when you realized your potential in this sport?

Alix Collombon:“We felt we had a good foundation thanks to tennis. We have a very physical game, a good volley, we cover the field well. The problem was the windows. We knew that if we trained we could quickly annoy several pairs. And these are the people who said to us: “girls if you do it, you are going to be a hit”. Little by little, we got into the game. ”

Padel Magazine : Has your meteoric rise made people envious?

Alix Collombon:“I didn't feel that way. After that I don't know what people are saying to each other. I am fortunate to have a lot of support on social media. People who follow me, and I thank them. What I like about the padelis that there is not the jealousy that there is in tennis. I like to say that it's a big family, the padel. "
