In this sport where Spaniards and Argentines reign supreme, little by little Alix Collombon crosses the steps and manages to clear a passage.

On the World Padel Tour, Alix Collombon, French number 1 will have had a magnificent year, which allowed him to enter the Top 20 for the first time!

A first entry into the WPT Top 20

This year 2021 was marked by its successes on the circuit of WPT. Remember that Alix is the first French woman to have won a World Padel Tour (Challenger), and this twice.

Indeed it is at Alfafar and nucia that the public sees the Frenchwoman and her partner Jessica castello sacred on the Challenger circuit.

Uncompromising, the Franco-Spanish pair will have dominated the Challenger category, with 4 finals out of 4 tournaments played, for 2 titles therefore.

The Lyonnaise did not stop there because in Andalusia during theCordoba Open she managed to qualify for the quarterfinals. A first with her partner Jessica Castello!

The WPT was not the only witness to the exploits ofAlix because it has also distinguished itself during the FIP tournaments with victories at the FIP Star of Burriana et Gran Canaria, and finals at La Nucia and Milan.

His excellent results on the WPT allowed him to climb to the 20th place worldwide. With small steps, it is still getting a little closer to qualifying places for the Final Master.

Still a long way to go

Remember that to participate in this one must be part of the first 16 in the ranking. When we know her abilities, her hard work, and the level of her partner, we tell ourselves that the Lyonnaise will still be among the contenders next season. However, there is still a long way to go.

This year, Alix and Jessica will have finished tied for 21st place in the Race ranking, with 1545 points each. If they are very close to Eli Amatriain, 17th, and who had 1808 points when she was called to replace injured Tamara Icardo, they still remain far from the Top 16 at the accounting level.

Indeed, to be automatically qualified for the Master, they would have had to pass in front of the Alayeto twins, who before the Master Final, each had 2 and 965 points respectively.

Alayeto world Padel tour

Alix and Jessica would therefore have had to earn more than 1 points each to qualify directly for the Master Final this year. There is still some way to go, but given the progress of the pair, there are many reasons to believe in it!

Here is a small summary of the achievements of the Collombon / Castello pair this year on the WPT / FIP circuit:

  • Burriana FIP Star Champion
  • La Nucia FIP Star finalist
  • La Nucia Challenger Champion
  • Alfafar Challenger Champion
  • Calanda Challenger finalist
  • Lerma Challenger finalist
  • WPT Cordoba Open quarter-finalist
  • Milan FIP Gold Finalist

As a reward for his beautiful season, besides its partnership with Cupra, Alix also benefited from good media coverage in a report called “La casa de padel" signed Canal +. Recall that the encrypted channel has decided to bet fully on the World Padel Tour, proof that this sport interests more and more in France!
