Last week, Andres Fernandez Lancha was 224th player in the world. This week, he made a remarkable entry at 144th place in the FIP ranking. A jump of 80 places which can be explained in particular by a quarter-final at Madrid P1.
But who exactly is Andrés Fernández Lancha? He is a 19-year-old player, born in Madrid. The Madrilenian plays on the left side of the pitch, alongsideEnzo Jensen Sirvent (Claudia Jensen's brother).
This Spanish-Italian pair is mainly found on the FIP circuit. However, their best results have been several finals in FIP Rise and FIP Promotion.
So why did Andrés Fernández Lancha move up 80 places in such a short time?
The young Spaniard was lucky enough to be called up by José Diestro during the Madrid P1. Together, they reached the quarter finals. They finally fell to the world number 1, 6/4 6/4. This very good result allowed Lancha to win 180 point at the end of the tournament. For a player ranked outside the top 200 to earn 180 points in a single tournament is exceptional.
This week again, Andrés Lancha was able to play alongside José Diestro at Rotterdam P1. Unfortunately, history did not repeat itself for these two players as they were eliminated in the first round by Facundo Dominguez (59) et Emilio Sanchez Chamero (63)
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
