Tenerife had a wonderful day padel. Pincho and Diestro win the big duel of the day and we will be entitled to fiery quarters in this Tenerife Open of theAPT Padel Tour.

Two pairs of almost the same level

The shock of the day was of course the one opposing the pair n°2 of the APT Padel Tour Chiostri / Alfonso, to one of the best pairs in the world, Pincho Fernandez / Jose Diestro.

At the end of a very balanced duel which ended in a tie-break of anthology (10-8), the Spaniards overcame the always nasty Argentinians.

The conclusion is quite clear in this “duel of the circuits”. Both pairs seemed to have the same level of padel, but what made the difference was the experience in matches at this level. The Chiostri/Alfonso pair play in a circuit that they generally dominate, and are not used to being so pushed to the limit. A very encouraging match for the two pairs who emerge from this duel.

Several surprises

The first big surprise of the day came in the second rotation with theelimination of Julio Julianoti and Yain Melgratti from the eighth against Del Moral / Frugoni. It's a superb performance for the Argentinians who will be the outsiders in the quarters.

Nacho Piotto and Cristian Gutierrez won in a duel with an average age of less than 20, if we do not count Cristian. Nacho knew how to be sharp in the important moments to allow his pair to win against the equally promising Maxi Sanchez Blasco and Juani De Pascual.

More logical results

At the beginning of the morning, Jose Luis González and Antonio Luque rolled over the Deus brothers. “We had an almost perfect match”, confided Jose Luis euphoric after the meeting.

The beautiful comeback of the day is for Oliveira and Chozas who were trailing by a set and a break when they started to let go of their game. More comfortable in the second part of the meeting, the Argentinian and the Portuguese come back from hell to eliminate the veteran Pérez and the young Del Castillo, a regular player on the WPT tables.

Restivo/Dominguez, Tolito/Tito et Ramos/Torre also qualified for the quarterfinals, with in particular a superb cushioning by the door of Agustin Torre to conclude the meeting!
