Argentine player Aranza Osoro gave a frank assessment of the economic reality of the women's circuit during a press conference reported by our colleagues at Víbora. PadelDespite the spectacular growth of padel in recent years, she believes that the majority of players still cannot live exclusively from their sport.
"Unfortunately, today I can say that players ranked beyond 40th or 50th in the world cannot live 100% off padel. They have to continue to work, give lessons or pursue another activity," explains the world number one.
This statement highlights the difficulties faced by many professionals, despite the circuit's extensive media coverage. Premier Padel and the international growth of the discipline.
However, Aranza Osoro remains optimistic about the future of women's padel. According to her, the current development of the sport will eventually benefit a greater number of players.
“Padel is growing by leaps and bounds, and I think there will be room for everyone. We just need to be a little more patient. Today, women's padel is gaining increasing prominence worldwide and is trying to keep pace with the progress of the men's circuit.”
Argentina also highlights the support provided by male players to the development of the women's circuit.
“On many occasions, we have also benefited from the support of men’s padel to continue to grow. I think that, little by little, we will progress in terms of salaries, partnerships, tournaments, and this will allow more female players to fully live off padel.”
