Sunday August 4, in Finland Premier Padel P2, Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría made history du padel women by winning their 33rd title. This is a feat that allows them to surpass the previous record of 32 titles held by the Alayeto twins.
The Spanish duo has thus inscribed their name in the annals of padel professional. This sixth success in 2024 follows an impressive 2023 season, during which they won fourteen titles.
Since the start of their partnership in 2021, Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría have dominated the world circuit. Their first title came in Madrid in 2021, followed by five others the same year. Since then, they have continued to display an exceptional level of play since they have never fallen below six titles in a season. This year, they have already added 6 victories to their record, including three P1s, two Majors and one P2.
The pair is exported well beyond Spanish borders, with victories in more than 10 countries. They have enjoyed the most success in Malaga with three wins in the tournament, with 2021 being the only year it has eluded them since their formation.
With 33 titles to their credit, Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría join pairs like Galan/Lebron among men and are only two lengths behind Bela/Lima and his 35 titles. If we take into account all the titles before the advent of the WPT, the 115 successes of JMD/Lima still seem inaccessible.
Number of titles per year for Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría:
- 2021:6
- 2022:7
- 2023:14
- 2024 (July): 6
