Guest of the show Bandeja de Premier PadelArturo Coello spoke at length about his future alongside Agustín Tapia. The world number one harbors a particularly ambitious dream: to continue their partnership for many more years and, why not, finish his career alongside the Argentinian.
Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia have dominated world padel for several seasons. But how far can their shared history go? Guest on the show Bandeja de Premier PadelThe Spaniard spoke frankly about one of his biggest dreams: to end his career alongside his Argentinian partner .
"One of my dreams would be to retire with Agustín."
When asked about the dreams he still has to fulfill, Coello didn't just talk about titles, records or the number 1 world ranking.
He mainly talked about Tapia.
“On a personal level, one of my dreams, even though I know it’s very difficult and very ambitious, would be to retire with Agustín.”
This is a strong statement, given the instability of partnerships at the highest level. Partner changes have become frequent, and few pairs are able to last so long together.
Coello is, however, perfectly aware that this scenario will depend above all on the results.
"It depends a lot on the results, obviously. If we have two years where the results aren't good, that's the way it is: we'll have to part ways."
But as long as their project continues to function, the Spaniard sees no reason to set an end date.

Playing together until 30, 32 or even 34 years old?
Even more surprising: the two men have already discussed this possibility between themselves.
Coello even imagines a partnership capable of lasting until they are past thirty.
“We’ve talked about it. If we do things right until we’re 30, 32, or 34 together, it could become a goal. It’s obviously very ambitious and very complicated, but it motivates me.”
A dizzying prospect for a pair who have already profoundly marked the recent history of padel.
And despite the seasons they've spent together, Coello assures that their desire has not diminished.
"The ceiling is still high. We work so well together that the partnership doesn't wear out. We've been playing together for several years now, and despite everything, the enthusiasm remains intact."
Coello still wants to write history
The world number 1 also makes no secret of his individual ambitions.
Among the goals he still wishes to pursue, he notably mentions that of becoming the Spanish player with the most seasons finished in world number one but also that of breaking certain title records.
However, the statistical rivalry with Tapia seems very secondary in his eyes.
Coello even explains that he would not mind at all seeing the Argentinian finish his career with more titles than him, since they will have won a large part of these trophies together.
There is already a slight difference between the two players in their track records. Premier Padel.
In 2022, before their partnership began, Coello won the Monterrey Major alongside Fernando Belasteguín, notably defeating Agustín Tapia in the final. This title historically gives him an additional victory in the era Premier Padel.

A pair that doesn't seem to have reached its peak yet.
This statement also comes at a time when competition with Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán is forcing Coello and Tapia to continue to evolve.
And perhaps that is precisely what fuels their association.
Rather than viewing the threat from their main rivals as a problem, Coello sees it as an additional source of motivation.
With only a few years left in their joint adventure, the Spaniard therefore refuses to imagine the end.
And his plan is now clear: To go as far as possible with Tapia. Perhaps even to the last match of their careers.
