Coki Nieto et Jon sanz are preparing to face the world number ones tomorrow in the first edition of the Premier Padel Finals. The Spanish won in the semi-final against Momo González et Eduardo Alonso in a very disputed match, finally won by the Madrilenian and the Navarrese. 6/3 7/5
A first round marked by two decisive series
The start of the match saw Momo and Edu take a quick advantage, 3 - 0. However, Nieto and Sanz responded with an impressive run of six consecutive games, completely reversing the momentum. Coki and Jon had to work hard to convert their sixth set point, eventually winning the set. 6/3
A second set under high intensity
Momo and Alonso continued their fight, making an early break. But once again, Nieto and Sanz showed their resilience by turning the situation around. 7/5
The keys to the match
We will regret the empty passages Momo and Alonso in this semi-final. Both players had the weapons to push Nieto and Sanz into a third set, especially after their victory against Chingotto and Galán in the previous round.
However, one player stood out: Jon sanz, the left-hander, who had a superb second set. However, his smash statistics remain disappointing with a On 2 11. Grandson, for his part, tried to be more offensive, but with a On 9 18, the record remains perfectible. And against Coello / Tapia, it will not forgive.
The best part of this exercise is still Momo González, author of an excellent On 12 15 on smashes. He knew how to shine at the end of the second set, but some fatal irregularities cost the pair the victory.
Nieto and Sanz will now attempt to win their first title on the major circuit (outside of Bordeaux P2) It front of world leadersThe task seems almost impossible.
