Our colleagues from the Dispatch were able to interview the triple French champions of padel, Bastien Blanqué. The Blagnacais returned to his recent separation in France with the Lyonnais, Johan Bergeron.

Behind the scenes of separation

Bergeron / Blanqué, it is a pair that will remain no matter what in the history of padel French. An old couple already which ended in particular with 3 victories at the French championships of padel (2017 to 2019).

This separation between the two French champions was a surprise for observers, but also for Bastien as he explains in the Dispatch.

We learn that this separation was not expected and that it was mainly a decision of Johan. Indeed, the latter has decided to continue the 2021 adventure in France with left-hander Benjamin Tison. For Johan, the idea was also to be able to change sides and discover new sensations.

What options for Bastien Blanqué?

The newspaper La Dépêche thus advances 3 options for the current champion of France:

Thomas Leygue, the hope of padel French

Thomas is currently playing with Toulouse player Nicolas Trancart. There is still no announcement around a possible separation.

We also find ourselves with a small problem of weight: Thomas having always shown a preference for the left. Is playing on the right alongside one of the very best French players enough to see him change sides?

What is certain: Thomas is able to play both sides and it would certainly be a nice springboard for him. But, perhaps, a daring bet nonetheless for Bastien.

Jérémy Scatena, the most unpredictable choice

Jérémy is probably one, if not the best French left-wing player internationally. The option is very interesting. Benjamin Tison playing with Johan Bergeron in 2021, Scat therefore finds himself looking for a partner on the French circuit.

But then, we would end up with a big dilemma: Who to go to the right? Scatena and Blanqué are at least in the top 4 of the best French players on the left. Who then to pass to the right?

Did you know ? Bastien is an exceptional defender. And playing on the right might be an attractive idea for Bastien. A bet but also a new adventure, new sensations… Is he ready to do it?

However, we do not see Jérémy Scatena playing on the right. The Scatena / Blanqué association would in any case be very interesting to see play.

Bastien Blanqué ready to play on the right? Will Scatena's fiery temper suit Blanqué? (and vice versa)

Haziza, the choice of safety

Robin Haziza would be a logical choice. Robin is a very dangerous player on the right. Nicknamed the paw of the expert, former partner of Jérémy Scatena and alongside Adrien Maigret in 2020, he has all the weapons to be a partner of choice on the French circuit.

However, Robin's profile may pose a small “administrative” problem. Robin Haziza is indeed the ladies captain of the France team. And he will therefore not be able to join the France men's team as a player. Is it so important for Bastien? Only he can answer it.

Finally, the other reason is his ongoing collaboration with Adrien Maigret.

The association between the two players could however be very balanced and nothing tells us that these two players will not associate one day. Robin is a fine tactician who will certainly know how to drive very well while leaving the lead to Bastien Blanqué.

Other choices?

For the moment only the three previous names have been spoken by Bastien Blanqué. But everything remains open.

Adrien Maigret: not easy; left player also, he would not say no to participation in the French championships with a player of the caliber of Bastien Blanqué. But there too, what about the side for the two players used to playing on the left?

The bet of a Morgan Mannarino who has enormous potential and who has decided to play on the right in 2021? It would be a risk for Bastien Blanqué who could perhaps test himself with this powerful player before making a final decision.

We could cite many other right-wing players in particular (Jérémy Ritz, Jérôme Inzerillo, Simon Boissé, Yann Auradou, Julien Maigret, Nicolas Trancart, Jean-Thomas Peyrou, Mathieu Lapouge…). But they either do not have the sporting project (a priori) to invest in sport like Bastien in 2021, or are already engaged.

Our opinion

Bastien Blanqué and Jérémy Scatena seem to be linked in 2021. They are both looking for a partner, they are competitors with a lot of ambitions in 2021.

They know each other well, are players of the World Padel Tour and appreciate each other.

Wrong, perhaps, but the undeniable qualities of Bastien on the left make us say that he could be the revelation of the year on the right, and perhaps even a revelation for himself.

Finally, Bastien, almost a year ago to the day, explained to us that going to the right did not seem like a permanently closed door ...

Conditions and the environment have changed a lot since then, but in our opinion, that's a clue.

Bastien Blanqué: Pass right. And why not ?!

But we cannot rule out this almost obvious association between Haziza and Blanqué which, in our opinion, will take place one day.

He should decide on his choice in January. Wait and see.
