Blanqué and Maigret ensure their qualification for the second round of the Paris Premier Padel Major 2022
Bastien Blanqué et Adrien Maigret led the way as the first Frenchmen to secure a victory in the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major 2022. They were then joined by Johan Bergeron et Thomas Leygue, who also made it past the first round.
Before the match, Blanqué and Maigret had announced that they could “create a surprise”, and they managed to keep this promise on the Court Philippe Chatrier. After a three-set fight, both players finally concluded this difficult first round. They expressed their satisfaction at the end of the match, acknowledging the contribution of the public in their performance: “We fought point by point, we are really satisfied with this victory. Thank you all, the energy of the public carried us,” they said.
The match started in a complicated way, however, with the French having conceded the first set 6/4 against opponents who were confident after their qualifications. Despite this, they were able to react quickly, winning the second set with a more aggressive and better controlled game (6/1).
The match took another turn in the final set, marked by an interruption of play after a dispute between the pair. Iriart/Perez Cabeza at 3-3. This moment increased the tension on the court, but both teams continued to exchange breaks until reaching a tie-breaker decisive. In this critical phase, Blanqué and Maigret were able to remain solid to conclude and secure victory (4/6, 6/1, 7/6(2)).
Au second round, the two players will have to measure themselves against the seed n ° 3, Lima/StupaczukA major challenge awaits them, but for them, the essential has already been achieved: “We have achieved our objective by passing a round, which is a good result for our progression,” confided Blanqué.
