In recent months, our best players from padel French people are going to test themselves on the professional circuit of World Padel Tour. Focus on the 1st 100% French pair to want to immerse themselves in this professional world: Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron.

Franck Binisti - Who had the idea to embark on this adventure?

Johan Bergeron - Bastien!

Bastien Blanqué - I have had this idea for several months. I had spoken about it to friends in Toulouse like Alexis Salles or Laurent Imbert. And in December, I call Johan and offer to try the adventure with me in Spain to train us etc. At this time, I sign at Babolat. Frédéric Bertucat, the Director Babolat Padel suggests that I come and train at the headquarters of the padel Madrid: the Sanset Indoor. The largest indoor club in padel in the world with its 32 tracks. But Johan tells me NO! 4 days later he called me back to tell me YES!

What happened in the meantime?

Johan - At first, Bastien offered me. I said no direct. And then banal discussion with my mother in the car. "Why don't you leave Lyon? If I go it's for the padel. Ba go!"

What is the program for you this year?

BB - The program promises to be sporty because we will follow a pre-season sports program at first with training sessions with Ramiro Choya, the famous coach of the second world pair Paquito Navarro / Sanyo Gutierrez. We will have at least an hour a day with him and then we will face very good players. And we will also enjoy the benefits of the physical trainer.

JB - The huge advantage of playing Sanset Indoor is that there are a plethora of very good level players. Then we will set out to conquer the Madrid circuit of padel. The circuit of World Padel Tour is in our sights, but we will first have to work hard to get up to speed.

BB - We see it now since 1 or 2 years, the French have for the moment never made good results on the professional circuit.

JB - We are talking about 6 hours of daily training, participation in the professional circuit on WORLD PADEL TOUR. Well it will obviously go through the box of qualifications where it may be sporty. We will go to Gijon, Valencia, Barcelona, Lisbon, Seville, Madrid, Valladolid etc.

And on the French plan, you plan to come back?

BB - First there are the French championships of padel that we want to do. There will be the regional ones, the inter-regional phases then the final phases next September.

There are also two competitions that are close to our hearts: the My Padel Tour, an elite circuit that offers P1000s all over France. We will try to do as much as possible.

Then there is as every year the meeting at the end of October at the final stages of the National Padel Cup (Where Bastien Blanqué won twice).

Your goal for this year?

JB - The dream would be to reach the first round of the finals of a stage of the World Padel Tour. But we know that for the moment, we are still very far. Step by step as they say. We will have to do our classes before considering going any further.

BB - And then we don't forget the French championships of padel. We give ourselves 2 years to win the France. Even if we will try this year to go as far as possible, especially since the Scatena / Haziza pair no longer play together, which opens the picture.

A year without pressure?

BB - Of course. First of all, we are in an exceptional setting in Madrid. We can't imagine a better setting, right? We are going to have the equipment and the right people to allow us to evolve. I want to thank Babolat for his confidence. A priori we will do the season from March to December. We will see the additional option for the following year. But difficult to talk about now since we haven't started yet.

JB - We have worked a lot to be part of the 5 best French players but our ambition does not stop there. We are determined to show that 2 very young French players can succeed on the world professional circuit, the famous " World Padel Tour ". Support also for me from the brand HEAD is also a very good thing.
