With 12 tournaments already played out of the 23 in the 2025 season , the calendar Premier Padel begins to leave visible traces. In recent weeks, the injuries multiplied , affecting several major players on the circuit, starting with those of Bordeaux P2 , where the infirmary continued to fill up.
Notable absentees from the opening of the tournament
The first bad news came before the tournament even started with the Delfi Brea's package , injured her calf during the semi-finals in Valladolid. A hard blow for the number 2 seed on the women's circuit, who had to cancel the trip to Bordeaux.
Same scenario in the men's table, with the Juan Lebrón's withdrawal , victim of lower back pain after his big match in Valladolid against Galán and Chingotto. As a precaution, and on medical advice, the Andalusian preferred to take a break, thus interrupting the beautiful momentum from his pair with Stupaczuk , finalist in Castile.
A massacre that continues during the tournament
Unfortunately, the wave of physical problems didn't stop there. In the middle of the competition, Paquito Navarro had to forfeit before the semi-final facing Tapia and Coello, suffering from a acute low back pain A big blow for the Spaniard, who had been in great form until then.
In the ladies, Ari Sánchez was unable to fully defend her chances. After the surprise elimination in the quarter-finals against Alonso / Jensen, the world No. 1 explained that she felt a persistent leg discomfort during training, forcing her to play “very limited” physically.
Another scare of the weekend: the young Alejandra Alonso , who was injured in hitting the net post during her semi-final. Fortunately, it was more of a scare than harm for the 18-year-old, who quickly reassured her fans via her social networks.
Finally Claudia Fernández appeared visibly touched in the foot during his semi-final, while Agustín Tapia evoked stiff neck , proof that the series of tournaments weighs more and more on organizations.
Everyone expected in Malaga... if the body follows
The affected players are still listed on the List of registered players for the P1 in Malaga , which will take place from 14 to 20 July in the arena of the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena. Juan Lebrón, Paquito Navarro, Delfi Brea, Ari Sánchez, Claudia Fernández or, Ale Alonso are preparing their return… but their participation will depend on the evolution of their injuries in the next days.
La circuit break this week comes at the right time to allow bodies to breathe before a new summer straight which promises to be as intense as it is decisive.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
