The BNL Italy Major Premier Padel 2025 offered a third day full of surprises in the women's draw, with the elimination of top seeds and the emergence or confirmation of pairs like Barrera/Caparros. On the men's side, the favorites generally held their own, despite a few clashes. The quarterfinals will feature several highly anticipated matches on the slopes of the Foro Italico in Rome.

Women's quarter-finals under high tension

While the top three seeds continued their run without a hitch, the rest of the women's draw was marked by several unexpected results. Among the performances of the day, that of Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros particularly attracts attention. After leaving Carolina orsi, a very popular player in Italy, they repeated the feat by eliminating the pair Salazar/Virseda (seed 6) in two straight sets: 6/1 7/5.

Another nice surprise, the journey of Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias, seeded number 11 but rarely cited among the favorites, who dominated Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero at the end of a match full of twists and turns (7/6 4/6 6/1). This duo, winners of the FIP Finals last year, confirms its solidity in major events.

Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga, seeded number 10, validated their ticket to the quarterfinals by eliminating Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno, finalists of the 2024 edition (7/6 6/3). They will now have to compete against Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez, impressive when they entered the competition (6/3 6/0 against Martinez Gomez/Marrero).

In the lower half of the table, an explosive clash will pit Guinart/Iglesias against Barrera/Caparros, with a place in the semi-finals at stake. We will also find Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who left no chance to Eugenio and Riera (double 6/0), as well as Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, solid against their opponents of the day.

At the top of the table, the leaders Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria dominated Osoro/Calvo 6/4 6/2, while Marta Ortega and Alejandra Alonso dismissed the pair Collombon/Martinez (6/3 6/4).

Men's table: the favorites are present, but outsiders are invited

On the men's side, surprises were rarer, even if two unseeded pairs made their way to the quarter-finals.

Inigo Jofre and Alex Arroyo, seeded number 12, signed a great victory against Lucas Campagnolo and Nachi Sager (6/4 7/5), thus giving itself the right to face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, authors of a quick match against Perino/Huete (6/0 6/2).

In the other shock of the day, Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal (No. 13) dismissed the pair Tello/Di Nenno in two sets (7/6 6/2). Note: Martin Di Nenno seemed physically diminished in recent games, which could have influenced the outcome of the match.

At the bottom of the table, the eyes will also be turned towards Juan LeBron and Franco StupaczukThe struggling duo had to fight to overcome Barahona and Javi Garcia (6/3 4/6 6/3). Their next challenge: to face Momo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz, winners of Ruiz/Sanchez in two tight sets (6/4 6/4).

In the upper part of the table, Guerrero/Leal will find Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, winners of Chozas/Sanyo Gutierrez (6/3 7/5). Finally, the long-awaited clash between Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia and the pair Paquito Navarro / Lucas Bergamini will have the feel of revenge after the Buenos Aires final. The world number 1s reassured with a clear victory against Diestro/Esbri (6/3 6/2), while Navarro and Bergamini delivered a close match against Alonso/Bautista (7/6 3/6 6/1).
