The first day of qualifying for the  Bordeaux Premier Padel P2  had started well with the victories of  Thomas Leygue / Javier Valdés  et  Julien Seurin / Johan Bergeron But the end of this  Q1  It was more complicated for the French team, with four additional defeats.

Overall, the French team faced stronger pairs on paper, with fairly predictable results. But there will inevitably be regrets for  Maxime Joris / Bastien Blanqué who clearly had room to pass.

Pillon / Raichman stopped by Belluati / Sager

Wildcards  Lucas Pillon / Philémon Raichman  had a big challenge against  Juan Cruz Belluati / Ignacio Sager , seeded 8 in the qualifiers.

The French were defeated.  6 / 4 6 / 2  in 52 minutes. A logical defeat against a more experienced pair, who were able to impose their rhythm in the important moments.

Pillon and Raichman took the first set, but Belluati and Sager then accelerated to close it out in two sets.

Big regrets for Joris / Blanqué

The disappointment of the day stems mainly from  Maxime Joris / Bastien Blanqué , beaten by  Karlos Rodriguez Vidal / Nicolas Peña Ruiz  on the score of  6/0 1/6 6/4 .

After a disastrous first set, the French responded perfectly by inflicting a  6/1  to their opponents in the second set. It was then thought that the momentum had shifted.

But in the third set, Joris and Blanqué were less effective in the crucial moments. We saw, in particular, a  Maxime Joris not very incisive Less capable of making a significant impact in key moments. Against a solid Spanish pair, this proved costly.

This defeat will inevitably leave regrets, because there was an opportunity to win this match.

Vanbauce / Miranda Santos too short

Another wildcard entry,  Thomas Vanbauce , associated to  Lucas Miranda Santos , lost to the Portuguese  Pedro Araujo / Pedro Graça .

Defeat  7 / 5 6 / 1  in 1 hour 12 minutes. The first set was close, but the Portuguese were able to make the difference at the right time before cruising in the second set.

For Vanbauce and Miranda Santos, the task was daunting against a solid pair.

Maigret/Tison defeated by Perry/Lamperti

Last French pair remaining in this Q1,  Adrien Maigret / Benjamin Tison  had inherited a very big piece with  Pedro Perry / Miguel Lamperti .

The French bow down  6 / 4 7 / 6  After 1 hour and 23 minutes of play. A rather solid match, especially in the second set, but the Portuguese-Argentine pair were more precise in the crucial moments.

Facing a player with the experience of  Miguel Lamperti , associated with a  Pedro Perry  Despite being very serious, Maigret and Tison were unable to turn the tide of the match.

A mixed bag for the French national team.

This Q1 therefore ends with mixed feelings for the French. The victories of  Leygue / Valdés  et  Seurin / Bergeron  They started the day in the best possible way, but what followed was more difficult.

The defeats of  Pillon / Raichman ,  Vanbauce / Miranda Santos  et  Maigret / Tison  remain fairly logical given the opposition. On the other hand, that of  Joris / Blanqué  will leave more regrets.

Now it's time for the rest of the qualifying rounds, with the hope of seeing the last remaining French players continue their journey towards the main draw of the  Bordeaux P2 .

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
