Bordeaux P2: Seurin / Bergeron forced to withdraw after their fine victory in the first round, Bergeron injured his hamstring

Hard blow for Julien Seurin and Johan Bergeron au Bordeaux Premier Padel P2 After a very impressive victory in the first round of qualifying, the French pair were forced to withdraw from the rest of the tournament.

The cause: a hamstring injury for Johan Bergeron, who preferred not to take any risks.

A promising victory in the first round

The day had started well for the two Frenchmen, who were facing the Spanish. German Rodriguez Quesada / Manuel Valcarcel Sanchez Seurin and Bergeron had won through mental strength in three sets: 6/1 2/6 6/4 .

After a dominant first set, the French saw their opponents claw their way back into the match before regaining control in the decisive set. An important victory that secured their place in the second round of qualifying.

But the sequel ultimately did not take place.

Bergeron injured his hamstring

On his social networks, Johan Bergeron announced the pair's withdrawal:

“Unfortunately, we have a walkover tomorrow due to my hamstring injury… I played today through the pain, but there’s too much risk of it getting worse and me not being able to play for several weeks…”

A frustrating but logical choice. Continuing in those conditions could have aggravated the injury and kept Bergeron off the field for a longer period.

He also had a word for his partner:

"Sorry Julien Seurin, disappointed not to be continuing in this magnificent tournament."

A cruel end at home

This setback is bound to be difficult for them to accept. Seurin / Bergeron who had shown very good things in their opening matches. At home, in front of the French public, the two players could hope to continue their journey in these Bordeaux qualifiers, even though they had a very tough draw in the second round, namely the 1 seed of the qualifiers, Javier Martinez / Luis Hernandez Quesada.

But the priority now remains recovery. Bergeron will undergo tests, rest, and try to return quickly.

For the French camp, this is really bad news at the start of this... Bordeaux P2 , after a victory that suggested a bright future ahead.
