In their opening match in the main draw of the Bordeaux P2 tournament, Yoan Boronad and Timéo Fonteny had a tough evening against Tino Libaak and Alex Chozas. Defeated in straight sets (6-0, 6-1), the two young Frenchmen gained valuable experience against one of the most dangerous pairs on the circuit. 

From the very first exchanges, the difference in experience was evident. In front of a large crowd and facing two world-class players, Yoan Boronad and Timéo Fonteny appeared timid, perhaps overwhelmed by the event.

The Argentinians took immediate advantage. Solid in all areas of the game, they left no openings and inflicted a resounding 6-0 defeat in just over twenty minutes.

Yannick Morel's message

At the change of ends, Yannick Morel tries to remobilize his players.

"I want you to reset. There are things that work, we need to build on that."

A speech that quickly produced results. The French finally won their first game at the start of the second set and even earned a break point.

However, they fail to convert it. A few inaccuracies, misunderstandings in their movements, and a lack of precision at crucial moments prevent Boronad and Fonteny from sowing doubt in their opponents' minds.

Libaak unplayable, Chozas perfectly targeted

The French game plan was clear: direct the exchanges towards Alex Chozas to avoid Tino Libaak as much as possible.

But even in this configuration, the Argentinians maintained control. Chozas played his role perfectly, while Libaak was practically unplayable as soon as he entered the exchange.

In very slow playing conditions, Timéo Fonteny was never able to rely on one of his main strengths: his ability to accelerate and finish points. Meanwhile, Yoan Boronad had to contend with a player of Tino Libaak's caliber down his diagonal, a near-impossible task given the Argentinian's dominance of the game.

Without ever really being troubled, Libaak and Chozas finally concluded the match 6/0 6/2.

The score is heavy, but this confrontation constitutes a new experience at a very high level for Yannick Morel's protégés.

Following their impressive performances on the FIP circuit in recent months, Boronad and Fonteny continue their development alongside the world's elite. Facing a pair of the caliber of Libaak and Chozas, they were able to gauge the distance they still have to cover, as well as the demands of the highest level – an essential step in their progression.
