Delfina Brea is experiencing one of the greatest moments of her career. At just 25 years old, the Argentinian is finally realizing the dream she's been repeating for years: to become world number 1. Associated with Gemma TriayShe built a season of impressive consistency.

On the sidelines of Barcelona FinalsBrea confided in Brand about her rise, her doubts at the beginning of the year, how she experienced the exact moment she became number 1, and the continuation of a project that is only just beginning.

“This season was long and difficult… but the overall result is extremely positive.”

Delfi doesn't hide anything: her year has been demanding, both mentally and physically.

She remembers her state of mind in January, when she was already saying: “I’ve been saying this for four years: it hasn’t happened to me yet, but I know it’s going to happen.”
Today, she fully understands the meaning of that phrase. She knew her moment would come. She believed it.

A number 1 that was experienced as a shock

The moment she officially becomes number 1 is like no other.

She hadn't nothing Calculated. No phone, no networks, no projections. She knows that if she does better than Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría in the last tournaments, the spot will be theirs. But she doesn't want to think about it.

And then, in the first round in Mexico City, Ari and Paula lost.

Gemma Triay looks at her: “It’s done.”
Delfi remained frozen: a long moment of pure shock.

She admits it:
“It was strange, because you celebrate something that happens through the defeat of your rivals. I would like to experience that one day by winning on the track. But I'm not going to complain.”

Between Growth Hormone release et joyShe finally realizes that she has reached the summit, but not forgets that this summit can also be treacherous:
“If you think it’s done, that you have nothing left ahead of you… that’s dangerous. There’s still a lot to do.”

“I play padel because it makes me happy”

Delfi insists: she is not looking for titles, recognition, or history.
What motivates her today:

  • are daily training
  • la joy of playing
  • the desire to continue progressing
  • team dynamics

“This sport gives me life. I am happy playing, and that's what I want to continue striving for.”

A source of immense pride for Argentina

As Argentina's first number 1 in a long time, Brea understands what this means.

“It’s very difficult to come from Argentina, cross the ocean, settle here and build a career.”
She says she feels privileged to have met the right coach early on and to have had the necessary family support.

The essential role of communication with Gemma Triay

Beyond the victories, Delfi insists: the key to the duo lies in a open communication, fueled by their work with the psychologist Eli Amatriaín.

They talk a lot, they discuss, sometimes they disagree… but always to move forward.

“We both have strong personalities, we like to be right. But we are intelligent: we look for the point of balance. What the other person says must always be helpful.”

There were more tense moments: a period when the game wasn't working, tactical adjustments, or even Delfi's calf injury, kept secret so as not to disrupt the season.
But they always found a way to start again.

And most importantly, they had already decided even before the Dubai-Kuwait tour: They will continue together in 2026.

On the Ari/Paula separation

Delfi says it honestly: she felt conflicting emotions.

As a rival, this is a strategic upheaval.
As a padel fan, this is the end of a historic cycle:
“They defined a style of play. What they achieved is impressive; they are a legendary pair.”

The end of the season: between mental fatigue and the desire to take a break.

After the Mexican Major, Delfi experienced a decline, a normal emotional setback after months of tension.

She wants to finish the season enjoying herself, playing freely.
And above all: she wants some repos.

One wish for Christmas: good health

“I ask for health. Fewer injuries, more health for me, my family, and all those I love.”

A simple, clear answer, and in Delfi's image: humble, sincere, connected to what is essential.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
