Tournament Premier Padel of Buenos Aires had a hectic day this Friday, marked by a series of contradictory decisions on the part of the organization. The cause: a technical incident on the central runway of the Parque Roca complex, which disrupted the smooth running of quarter-finals.

A window problem stops the day

First of all, a structural problem on the back glass of center court forced the organizers to suspend the remaining matches of the day, including the men's quarter-finals, and to move the last women's quarter (Triay/Brea vs Jensen/Icardo) on track 2, without audience.

In one official release, Premier Padel had justified this decision by the need to ensure the safety of players and the public. It was announced that the matches would be rescheduled. Saturday at 9 p.m. (14 p.m. in France), behind closed doors for the women's draw, and that the men's quarter-finals and semi-finals would be played on the same day.

An announcement that creates controversy

But the situation became tense when a message posted on the tournament's social networks stated that only semi-final tickets would allow access to Saturday's matches, effectively canceling the validity of Friday tickets. A decision that was heavily criticized, as it excluded spectators who had purchased their tickets for the quarter-finals, despite the postponement of these matches.

The organization had invoked security reasons to justify this choice, but the fans' grumbling was quickly heard.

The organization is backtracking

Faced with the wave of indignation, Tournament officials finally rectified the situation. A few hours after this controversial announcement, a new official communication confirmed that Friday tickets will give access to the quarter-finals rescheduled for Saturday.

A welcome gesture for the many spectators present at Parque Roca, who will thus be able to attend the matches initially planned, before returning to the semi-finals scheduled immediately afterwards.

A Saturday marathon

With this change of program, the day of Saturday promises to be particularly dense:

  • Men's quarter-finals rescheduled
  • Women's semi-finals
  • Men's semi-finals

The end remain planned for the Sunday, if no new incident comes to disrupt the organization of the tournament.
