Au Cupra FIP Finals of Grand Bourg, French Camille Sireix et Marie-Amelie Dardaine took part in an intense match against Giorgia Marchetti and Léa Godallier. Although eliminated, they look back on their experience and plans for 2025, particularly during their tour in Australia.

A great experience despite the defeat

Marie-Amélie Dardaine:
Personally, I'm very happy to be here, it's an honour. I think we played a decent game, especially considering that we hadn't trained together at all before. We lacked reference points, we were playing a bit "each on their own". Despite that, we did quite well, and it was a very good experience. I didn't expect to get this wildcard, so it was really great to be able to participate.

Camille Sireix:
I'm obviously disappointed. I'm a bad loser, so when I lose, I'm disappointed, it's automatic. We take 6/2, 6/2 in less than an hour, and it's difficult. We realize that we don't have any solutions against them. They are better than us in almost all areas. And since we hadn't trained together, we lacked some automatisms. But, despite everything, I enjoyed playing here. The conditions are great, even if I struggled a bit with my glasses, but that's a personal problem. (Laughs)

Common perspectives and ambitious projects

Marie-Amélie Dardaine:
Yes, it was our first match together in two years. We had played once before, but since then, each of us has made our own progress. This match allowed us to lay a foundation, and now we know what to work on. We will both go to Australia to play several FIP Silver.

Camille Sireix:
Yes, we have already booked our tickets. We are leaving on December 29th and returning mid-January. In the meantime, we will train together to better prepare ourselves.

A contrasting season for the two players

Marie-Amélie Dardaine:
My season was very short. I only started in August, with a few FIPs and tournaments in France. I tried to play several more to get back into the swing of things, and playing abroad was a great experience. I hope to be able to do a full season in 2025, and a little more often alongside Camille.

Camille Sireix:
For me, it was a paradoxical year. I had great moments with the European Championships, the World Championships, and Roland-Garros. These three goals made me progress enormously, but the season was complicated in terms of partners. I changed a lot, sometimes without being able to train with them before playing, which led to a lot of frustration and matches lost by a narrow margin. In 2025, I will try to train with a stable partner, earn international points, and climb the world rankings.

Next steps: Australia and the desire to progress

Camille Sireix:
Winning points, of course, but also continuing to progress together, finding our automatisms, and playing our best padel.

Marie-Amélie Dardaine:
Exactly, it is a new adventure and an opportunity to build real momentum for 2025.
