First match together and first defeat for Pablo Cardona and Juan Tello who have just lost in a titanic match against Lucas Campagnolo and the young David Gala.

2 hours and 43 minutes on the track

The outcome of the match took a while to decide between the two pairs, Pablo and Juan winning the first set in a tiebreak after a very close start to the match. Then the two men really took the upper hand over their opponents of the day, leading 7/6 4/2 in a complicated but controlled match. But Campagnolo/Gala did not give up and came back into the game, they first came back from their break deficit and then won the second set 7/5.

Decisive tie break in the 3rd set

In the third set, the two teams followed each other, no breaks were won and therefore the qualification for the 8th finals will be decided by a tie break. After almost 3 hours of match, Campagnolo and Gala finally take down Cardona and Tello, the latter who were starting a new association together and who were keen to start it well… a failure for both men.

Final score: 6/7 7/5 7/6 Campagnolo/Gala, the Brazilian and the Spaniard will be at the meeting of the 8th finals against Alex Chozas and Tolito Aguirre.

Cardona/Tello lacking reference points

For Pablo Cardona and Juan Tello, the break after this P1 in Tarragona comes at the right time to create real chemistry on the track by training together this summer before returning to competition in early September. They are lucky enough to be in the same academy, so we imagine the two men taking a little rest, then following up with several weeks of training with the P1 in Madrid in their sights.
