Carlos Pozzoni, trainer of Franco Stupaczuk et Juan Lebrón, spoke without filter in an interview with Radio BrandAt a time when discretion reigns on the professional circuit, the Argentinian stands out with his sincerity and does not hesitate to reveal what the players really experience behind the spotlight.
A logical absence for Doha and Brussels
Affected by a recent injury, Franco Stupaczuk will not participate in the Qatar Major or the P2 in Brussels. Pozzoni explains that the decision was made after evaluating all the options: "It was an injury whose seriousness we discovered a few days ago. We considered Doha, but in the end we decided to stop for a good recovery." The goal now is to return in time for Paraguay's P1 in mid-May.
A striking revelation: Stupa played with reduced lung capacity
The most surprising news was Stupaczuk's admission about his health last season. According to his coach, the player contracted dengue fever (illness), last year resulting in a lung infection : "His lungs were functioning at 30%. He didn't have medical clearance to play, but we went to Brussels anyway. We lost in three sets to Yanguas and Garrido, then we flew home. That's the competitive mentality."
Against hasty judgments
Pozzoni took the opportunity to point out how unfair judgments about players' performances can be: "People don't know what athletes go through. Why criticize a player's mentality without knowing the sacrifices he makes?"
Transparent management with Lebrón
While the Stupaczuk/Lebrón pair withdrew from the Santiago P1 final, Pozzoni insisted on their desire to play fair: "Franco wasn't well. We could have waited for the draw to announce our withdrawal, but we preferred to be honest. We have to act with integrity."

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
