In interview with Marca, Carmen Goenaga looked back on her development, her ambitions for the 2025 season and the challenges she had to face in 2024. The young Spanish player, considered one of the hopes of women's padel, approaches this new year with a great motivation and new sports project.
A mentally demanding 2024 season
Si 2024 has allowed him to reach several levels, Goenaga recognizes that this year has been particularly mentally demanding. Despite of good results, she went through periods of doubt, linked in particular to constant travel and separation from loved ones. “Last season was the toughest mentally. Being away from my family and constantly travelling was difficult to deal with at times.”
To better meet these demands, the player of Salamanca surrounded herself with professionals, working with psychologists to improve his mental management of the competition.
A new project alongside Bea Caldera
After having played alongside experienced players such as Aranza Osoro, Virginia Riera and quickly with Alejandra Salazar, Goenaga decided to change strategy for this season. She made the choice of partner with Bea Caldera, a player with whom she had already shared tournaments in 2022.
"We have played together before and we know each other well. We trust each other and I think we have a lot of room for improvement.", she confides. This new association could allow her to exploit its full potential.
Managing your image, a key element
Aware of the growing importance of image and social networks In today's padel, Goenaga believes that this aspect should not be neglected. "Some players don't worry about it, but for me it's a key element."
This visibility notably allowed him to sign a partnership with the brand Oysho, which is increasingly developing its presence in the world of padel. A collaboration that is particularly close to its heart.
A first test during the Hexagon Cup
Before starting the season on the circuit Premier Padel, Goenaga participates in the Hexagon Cup under the colors of 10 Padel, the pilot team Pierre Gasly. In the category Next Gen, she teams up with Lucia Peralta.
"I wanted to take part in this tournament last year, it's an original competition, which is different from the usual format and which is played as a team"she explains.
A promising future for 2025
With rigorous preparation and a new sports project which seems to suit him, Carmen Goenaga starts this year with high goals. If she manages to manage the aspects mental and physical of the competition, she might well establish herself as one of the players to watch this season.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
