Women's padel in Spain is opening a new chapter in its history.  Spanish Federation of Padel  has officially announced the appointment of  Carolina Navarro  to the position of national women's coach.

A highly symbolic appointment, as the former world number 1 succeeds  Icíar Montes which will have marked one of the most dominant periods in the history of Spanish padel.

The end of an era with Icíar Montes

The release of Icíar Montes already hinted that a new era was about to begin.

Appointed national team coach in 2018, the former Real Madrid player has built a veritable empire with Spain:

  •  4 world titles ,
  •  4 European titles ,
  • constant domination
  • but above all a perfectly managed generational transition.

Under his leadership, Spain has managed to maintain its status as a global benchmark while gradually integrating the new generation.

In January 2026, Montes announced his departure to join the project  FIP Beyond , the amateur circuit developed by the International Federation of Padel.

Carolina Navarro, an icon of world padel

To succeed him, the Spanish federation has chosen one of the biggest names in the history of women's padel.

Talk about  Carolina Navarro That is to say:

  • of a pioneer,
  • of a legend,
  • of a player who has lived through all eras of padel.

The former Malaga player has left her mark on several generations thanks to:

  • its immense longevity,
  • its competitive nature,
  • his personality,
  • and its major role in the development of women's padel.

 A vast international experience

Carolina Navarro knows perfectly well what it means to defend a national jersey.

With Spain, she notably won:

  •  4 World Team Championships .

But her international experience doesn't stop there, as she has also represented the  Sweden  thanks to his dual nationality.

A rare career path that gives him a very broad perspective today:

  • of a very high level.
  • human resources management,
  • and the building of a group.

A nomination that surpasses the list of achievements

This choice is not based solely on his immense career.

The Spanish Federation is primarily counting on someone who has experienced the entire evolution of women's padel from the inside:

  • early, still somewhat unprofessionalized beginnings
  • until the current global explosion of sport.

Carolina Navarro arrives in a very particular context where:

  • The great historical players are still present.
  • while a new generation is pushing very hard behind them.

A selection that is entering a new era

The appointment of Carolina Navarro perfectly symbolizes what Spain is seeking today:

  • continuity,
  • but also an evolution.

A legend from the past to guide the new generation of women's padel worldwide.

And given his experience, his aura and his knowledge of the top level, it is difficult to imagine a more natural profile to succeed Icíar Montes.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
