Last Saturday, May 10, Home Padel St Denis hosted a unique event in France: the very first padel tournament bringing together pairs composed of a hearing player and a deaf or hard of hearing playerA first in the world of French padel, which marks a strong step forward in terms of inclusion through sport.

At the origin of this initiative, Nicolas Lanfranchi, coach and referee in Casa Padel, who carried out this project with enthusiasm. The day mixed sport, emotion and solidarity. On the slopes, beyond the competition, it was the spirit of sharing and understanding that prevailed, confirming that padel is much more than a sport: a real social cohesion tool.

Several figures from the industry were present to support this first edition. Among them, Ezio Bramato, director of Visuel Île-de-France, a sign language training center, came to raise awareness among hearing participants about communicating with their partners. An approach welcomed by all the players.

The event was also able to count on the involvement of the section ESSV Padel, with the presence of President Anouchka Arroyo, from the secretary Fanny Benklaouz,Almog Shemer, co-head of the section, and the interpreter Isabelle Lombard, essential for the smooth running of discussions throughout the day.

Jose Manuel Escoin, founding president of Casa Padel, wanted to thank all the participants and partners for their commitment: “This tournament is just the beginning. It proves that padel can be a vector of openness and inclusion. We will continue in this direction.”

With this successful first edition, Casa Padel hopes now pave the way for other inclusive initiatives, and make this meeting a regular event in the sporting calendar.
