A few weeks from the Premier Padel Finals 2024 in Barcelona (December 18-22), tension is rising among the pairs still in the race for qualification. With only two tournaments remaining, Mexico, in progress, and Milan (from December 2 to 8), the final sprint promises to be intense to secure the last points of the Race to Barcelona.
A picture still uncertain among men
We will not talk about the Tapia-Coello, Chingotto-Galan, Stupaczuk-Yanguas, or Di Nenno-Lebron, assured of treading the tracks of Barcelona. Even if collecting additional points remains crucial for these pairs, it is today around the fifteenth place that each unit counts.
With GNP Mexico Major and Milano P1 on the horizon, 3 000 points remain in play, and anything is still possible. After his victory at FIP Platinium of Mexico, Alex Ruiz intends to consolidate its recent entry into the top 16, While Lucas Bergamini, currently 17th, will have to fight to get back into the qualifying places. The Brazilian has only 52 point late on paul cardona (15th), who will therefore have to go and get as many points as possible alongside Paquito Navarro.
Two other players also remain in contention for qualification to Barcelona:
- Alex Arroyo, 19th in the ranking, but only 60 point from 16th place.
- Sanyo Gutiérrez, 18th, who also hopes to secure his ticket to the final tournament.
The fight for the last tickets looks set to be more open than ever.
In the women's race, Alonso will have to keep his head down
Crowned at FIP Platinium of Mexico next to Lucia Sainz, Alejandra Alonso recovered 16th place and overtook Aranzazu OsoroThe Spanish now has a lead of 150 point on "La Vikinga" and 200 point on Virginia Riera, who, despite his defeat in Mexico, pocketed 150 point precious.
Au GNP Mexico Major and Milan, Alonso will have to defend this last qualifying place for Barcelona, because his pursuers will give him no respite.
