The Marne Tennis Committee organized a PADEL discovery day for club managers, professional teachers and volunteers from Marne at ADN Sports in Châlons en Champagne this Sunday.
Located in Chalon en Champagne, the multi-sport club has 1 padel court, 2 badminton courts, a 3-a-side basketball court and a 5-a-side football court.
The club hosted the region's major padel meeting with Roger Moreaux – President of the Champagne league, Gérard Dépit – President of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee, officials from the Tennis League (FFT), presidents of tennis clubs, but also curious people who came to discover and try padel.
"The Marne Committee is getting organized"
Benjamin Corsi, the Development Advisor of the Marne Tennis Committee, explains that " The committee is organizing itself to promote padel in the region.
First, the regional championship for the French padel championships will take place on Sunday, March 12 at the ADN Sports Club. This will be the first regional stage concerning the 2017 French padel championships.
But in this very positive atmosphere "we are at the genesis of padel in the region" moderates Benjamin Corsi.
« What is positive is the very interesting feedback from tennis clubs and very receptive teachers. They see in this sport an opportunity to develop their activity. "
« What is interesting for our clubs in the league is to offer a new activity that perfectly complements tennis. The negative point is that there is no financial leverage for clubs to develop padel at the moment. ».
"ADN Sport the first club in the region"
Stephan Dufour and Christophe Brûlon, the associate managers of ADN Sports are obviously delighted with this development of padel in their region. But they believe that the FFT could do more, such as " release a padel budget for the promotion of padel in the region ».
But " We have with Benjamin Corsi, a very good relationship, very professional on his part and it is of course very motivating They explain.
Fortunately the development of our padel club is " encouraging ". " In terms of football, the market is there. On the other hand, in padel, there is everything to do. We are in a region that did not know this sport.»
If the club only exists since 4 months, the 2e field is already in the heads.
To come to this club, it took 'se beat. now that our baby has finally given birth, we do not intend to let go ».
