The Federation has unveiled the French squad for the European Padel Championships (October 21-25 in La Línea de la Concepción, Spain). A list that illustrates the strong choices made by the coach  Pablo Ayma .

Male selection

  • Bastien BLANQUÉ (OCC League)
  • Timéo FONTENY (OCC League)
  • Manuel VIVES (IDF League)
  • Dylan GUICHARD (BRE League)
  • Johan BERGERON (ARA League)
  • Maxime JORIS (NVA League)
  • Benjamin TISON (ARA League)
  • Yoan BORONAD (OCC League)

A puzzle on the left

France lacks big left-wingers. Blanqué, Fonteny, and Vives seemed to have their places secured, but for the last spot, several possibilities were open to the French coach. Among the options:  Adrien Maigret , an experienced player who plays on this side, appeared to be a possible choice. Thomas Vanbauce, selected last year for the World Championships, could also have claimed a place, but having just recovered from injury, Pablo Ayma preferred to bet on the current momentum and leave the Bordeaux player out. Forcin, very prominent alongside Benjamin Tison, seemed legitimate for a selection but Ayma ultimately preferred to reposition  Maxime Joris , usually a right-wing player, to play on the left. A sign of confidence in the Frenchman's experience and versatility. The recent dynamic, more favorable to Joris, has undoubtedly worked against Maigret and Vanbauce.

Guichard, the evidence on the right

To the right,  Dylan Guichard  was an obvious choice. Having had a solid season, he is the French number 4 and is one of the key players in the national team.

Four candidates for three places

With Bergeron shifted to the left and Guichard essential, three spots remained to be filled on the right side. Four players were in contention:  Maxime Joris ,  Yoan Boronad ,  Benjamin Tison  et  Julien Seurin The battle was close, but Ayma ultimately chose Boronad, Joris, and Tison.

Boronad, youth rewarded

At only 18 years,  Yoan Boronad  signs his first selection. Alongside  Timeo Fonteny  he's having a great season: semi-finals and several quarter-finals in  FIP Silver , and solid performances against higher-ranked pairs. Ayma is clearly choosing to invest in youth, banking on a player who embodies the future of the French team.

Tison, the return of the boss

Benjamin Tison  is making his big comeback. After relaunching his career at the start of the year, he is undefeated on the national circuit and performing well internationally. For many, he remains the best French player on the right. In addition to his level of play, he brings his  experiment  and his role as a manager in this French group.

No big surprises among the ladies

On the women's side: the usual pillars are present to represent the French colours, we can note however the absence of Fiona Ligi who has more than 20 selections in this team.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
