The European Senior Padel Championships will be held from October 6-11 in Valencia (Spain), with the participation of 22 men’s teams et 19 women's teams.
The event has two parts: the national team championship and a Open in pairs, in the categories +35, +40, +45, +50 and +55 years old.
La France will be involved in both competitions, for both men and women, with teams combining former competitors and players from the circuit.
French teams: a solid selection but some unknowns
gentlemen
La France figure in the hen C, opposed to theGermany and Switzerland.
Team Captain: Morgan Mannarino.
Among the players selected: Maxime Forcin, Adrien Maigret, Benoît Théard for the +35 category; Morgan Mannarino, Norman Sanchez, Mathieu Armagnac (+40); Julien Datcharry, Arnaud Di Pasquale, Arnaud Clément (+45); Christophe Henry, Frédéric Loriedo, Nicolas Kischkewitz (+50); Olivier Launo, Olivier Romary, Jean-Marc Lagloire (+55)
It should be noted that some French players are particularly well ranked on the national circuit. For example, Forcin is ranked number 14 in +35, Maigret number 24, Théard number 25.
Women
France will evolve in the group B, facing Portugal and Croatia.
Captain: Amelie Detriviere.
Among the players involved: Charlotte Soubrié (+35), Mélissa Martin (+35), Marie Lefevre (+40), Julie Pecastaing (+40), Déborah Alquier, Amélie Detrivière, Catherine Lalanne (+45), Emmelien Lambregts, Céline Verdier, Alexandra Fouquet (+50), Géraldine Sorel, Nathalie Mancienne, Catherine Bignotti (+55).
As with the men, some players are very well ranked in France like Soubrié n°5 or even Martin n°15…
Forces present, but major unknowns
It is important to remain cautious: the value of all the nations present is not known precisely in each hen.
- Some national teams receive little media coverage or play little in the senior circuits, which makes it difficult to assess their level.
- Official senior rankings are sometimes partial or updated irregularly, making comparisons difficult.
- The experience in international team competition (specific format, pressure, doubles management) differs from playing in individual circuits or Open pairs.
The objective for France is clear: be among the first in the group, reach the final stages, and be able to claim a European finalSpain will be the big favorite, as always. And so we will have to avoid its path.
